sanji was in charge and nami was there and took orders from him she even made a temporary nami for the crew under his leadership how do you explain that
There is still a small portion of OP fans who want to ignore reality but the fact is Zoro is Luffy's vice. There is a ton of proof to support this, some even after Jinbe joined, while there is none to support other SHs for the role.

Zoro is as much the first mate as Usopp is the shipwright or Franky the helmsman. Nowhere has he been confirmed as such, his official role is that of combatant as of today.
Luffy too hasn't any ambition to rule other people, that is stuff yonkos want. To make an example of this when the captains of the now Grand fleet proposed to serve under him he refused and it was just because his vice drank the sake in his place that the pact was made (with an uninterested Luffy and Zoro too of course).
Ahh No. Despite what any Non-canon source says; even the VC. There's been no Official Oda Box in the manga that I ever saw.
That will be the only time I'll accept a Strawhat into that Position; Until then there is no Vice Captain- 2nd Mate etc...
Taking charge doesn't mean diddly in an official capacity. Luffy is the sole Captain and the rest are basically autonomous. You wouldn't expect Chopper to have taken command and Brook was the newest member, Nami is a scaredy cat so she's not taking control outside of the ship. Sanji is/was just the best thing to follow...
