Controversial Struggling with early manga

#1
Good day JJK-Boys.

Seeing that it's a very popular manga, I decided to give it a go, read around 40 or more chapters, arrived at the school exam or something.

I just struggle to find any interest in the Manga, but I find it cool, much better than, say, MHA.

Does it get "better" later, or maybe it's just not for me?
What do you guys like about it?

After the arc you are reading rn, you will have a short inbetween arc and then the most critically acclaimed part of the manga

I'd say stick it out a bit more since you made it 40 chapters deep, and then if you don't like that arc then call it a day

The arc I'm talking about strats at chapter 79, but it has a prelude of 3-4 chapters that are extremely tied to it so you can say that it starts around chapter 75 or so

I believe that, opposite from a manga like One Piece or more seinen titles, modern Shonen are jam packed with short-term rewards, and most arcs are very back2back and quick, as such I am losing a bit of steam because there is a bit of confusion in where the manga is going.

I also had read most of it too fast, so I think I'll restart at a slower pace and try to give it its time.

I don't know why you reading manga when you could watch anime. I believe to be good paced unlike One Piece.

I went to the manga after the second 2 because I got spoilers of Gojo vs Sukuna fight. After seeing Sukuna 15 fingers killing everyone at Shibuya I got interested to see how that fight was.

It is a good manga. I don't think the finale of the fight was worth it but it is enjoyable. I feel like the manga is being rushed.

I don't really watch Animes, mangas are a way for me to not be just "watching" and be reading.

In the case of JJK it's back-to-back action with very little breathing room in between. Some are fans of that, others aren't
You'll find out that the rare instances where the story slows down and breathes a bit are the most enjoyable parts of this manga.
And I'm with you that manga>anime most of the time. It's easier to binge chapters than episodes for me

Yeah, to this day my favourite part of One Piece is volume 45 after Enies Lobby, and as such you can understand why I love Egg Head. Quiet times and slide shows to see other things, not bombastic action all the time.

JJK will take time to hit hard.

The best parts of it start from around ch. 60/65 off the top of my head.
Try reading upto that and if its still not getting you invested, then i guess its not for you.

if you don't like the early manga you probably won't like the rest of the story.

It peaks later on, but it goes down on an even worse quality than early manga imo

Then you don't remember Early Piece. Short arcs. Luffy with Shanks is one chapter. Luffy with Coby and Alvida are what? One chapter or 2? Luffy with Zoro few chapters. Buggy... Kuro... Baratie... Arlong Park... Several small arcs until the go to Grand Line and then another several of small arcs that don't even make 30 chapters until they go Alabasta with 63 chapters way bigger than the average until that time.

Then Jaya small arc and then Skypea on the same length of Alabasta.

One piece until Skypea would already be bigger than current JJK length.

In my opinion the issue with JJK is not the drama but the complexity of the abilities that is somewhat connected to the drama as well. And that's sucks.

Yeah but they are arcs with "not just fighting". Probably it's that that I struggle with.
I need a simple plot for a simple mind.

Nah its the opposite tbh.
I feel like Oda structures grand stories & writes more overarching narratives.

Gege writes like Togashi, simple storylines with some social commentary mixed with a chess-like powersystem which gives them flexibility to write based on that.

I would say that every Gon arc is extremely simple.
Kurapika arc with the Spiders is the only a bit more complicated.
The ship is convoluted shit with details that DESTROY the pacing of the story.
What are you calling simple? Hunter Exam? That game? Please...

What is complicated about it?
The fact that is original doesn't make it complicated. Nor calling it simple is saying that it is bad.
The game is extremely complicated do I really need to go on that?

Hunter Exam seems simple but it had a bunch of tricks on it.

I rather much more a simple story where the author don't messed up than a over complicated story where the author often finds himself lost, forget the laws he created before etc.
