Character Discussion Supernovas should have been more strict with who they pick in their crew?

Franky? "best ship builder". ironically all the other crews also made it to the NW. seems like their ships are just fine.
Nami? "best navigator". ironically all the other crews also made it to the NW. seems like their navigations skills are just fine.
Helmsman? not needed.

Luffy has 2 things over the other crews. a character who can read PG, Robin and a character on his own level, Zoro.
Kidds crew also has 2 potential top tiers, but no one to read PG.

Sanji, Usopp, Brook, Chopper, Jinbe. all of them can be easily replaced. Law himself can replace most of them alone. only Jinbe is too strong to be replaced by him.

A problem I've had with the series or even just the fandom, is that they automatically believe these characters are the best there is in their fields of expertise.

It's not that the supernova are careless when picking there subordinates it that most of them don't have the charisma to attract the truly exceptional like Luffy (and I guess Kid) does. The Straw Hats are what resulted with Luffy not even trying to strengthen his crew by recruiting strong people... I imagine his crew would nearly twice as powerful if he actually put in some effort.

Roronoa-sama

Magic Sword, Magic Swordsman, and Can Cut Anything

The only crew that had a shot at the sh's in the SN was kidds crew. Kidd had another SN on his crew and his top looked to be comparable to luffys tops pts. But now that's dead killer has been beaten by zoro and kidd is only hanging on by hype itself to be close to luffy while the rest of his crew is weak compared to the sh's. None of of the SN crew imo was supposed to close to the sh's. Jinbe joining just put the nail in the coffin.

The thing is the Worst Gen along with the Emperors don't have to deal with the New World's danger because they are the danger.
That's not true, the New World is supposed to be a highly dangerous place for its environment, it's why the World Government couldn't conquer it for 800 years. Roger finding the Lodestar Island was considered a big feat because for centuries nobody managed to navigate it that far

Oda just fucked up, plain and simple

The Pokemon competitive metagame is deep and infinitely fun if flawed. But if it wasn't good then people would just default to evaluating the product as a whole.

The OP meta discussion of power levels is complete trash and the people who sit around complaining about it seem unable to look beyond it

Anyway, the OP world is full of selfish dickheads, so of course even the most dangerous of them believe in quantity over quality. Between their own remarkable talents and actually knowing how to make effective alliances, the Straw Hats overcome what should be impossible for a crew of that size. That is why, as Oda doesn't mind beating us over the head to say, they are the best of the best and complete exceptions to the way things are thought to be done.
