No headcanon, it is simply putting 2 and 2 together. When you can cut a Lunarian into pieces, you can do that to Kaido as well.

I would be happy for zoros next future opponent to be among the strongest.

They are not just among the strongest, they are nearly invincible.

But it is also a manga fact that the previous WSC was defeated by luffy.

Endless chances =/= strength but on the other hand, plot armor has always been Luffy's strength.
Still not enough to beat Zoro though.

Luffy's opponent did worse vs Zoro than he did vs Luffy.
Zoro simply build different and you already admitted it.

I think it all makes sense when we put Kaidou into perspective, the guy had an attack named "Death Conqueror", he conquered even death.

So the idea of Zoro defeating death is not illogical, after all, Kaidou has been doing it all this time as a Hobby.

There is a very solid chance that Oda makes Zoro top 2 by EoS

But there is zero chance that he will be made outright stronger than his golden boi Luffy. The best you can hope for is to have Oda make it ambiguous between them by having them around the same level.

I am not completely sold on Zoro vs Kizaru happening. As always, Luffy tends to be the first to do anything - was first to beat Yonko, will probably be the first to beat an admiral as well, going by precendence.
I'd say 60-40 in favour of Luffy, when it comes to who will fight Kizaru.

As for the rest, yeah I can see them. Shiryuu and Mihawk are obvious. Bald gorosei seems to be for Zoro too. I can see the "death" fight playing out too, giving the thematics of Zoro.

When it comes to obstacles in Zoro's path to #1 of the universe, Luffy is the last guy I worry about. I am certain that he aint that guy.

He didnt beat a Yonko first though. Two Yonkos fell before Luffy managed to beat one, with help of others and countless rounds...

It is 100% in Zoro's favor.
There was never any Luffy vs Kizaru until we suddenly found out that he is coming to Egghead.
Everyone has always paired him up with Akainu while Kizaru wasnt even an afterthought...

Luffybros are just insecure and want him to fight whoever is strongest.
If they had confirmation that Saturn is stronger, they would discard Kizaru in a blink of an eye.
However, such confirmation doesnt exist and they want to play safe. But Zoro's opponents dont change because of Luffy's match-ups...
