Theory Teach is truly a Buccaneer-theory.

The Japanese fandom is going crazy discussing the possibility of Teach actually being a Buccaneer and being the "opposite" of Kuma...
And the correlations are INSANE!

Check this out:

Kuma's name possibly comes from the real-life pirate Bartholomew Roberts, whose nickname was "Black Bart," and he was a BUCCANEER!
Teach's name obviously comes from the pirate with the same nickname, "Blackbeard"...
AND BOTH WERE CONTEMPORARIES (from the same period):

The thing is... "Kuma" in Japanese means bear, but not just any bear, an Asian black bear
(this gigantic creature here):

So, a Black Bear... Black Bear... Black Beard... Black Beard!

Black Bear... D!
The difference between Kuma and Teach is a D.!!!
Black Bear and Black BearD!

Want more? Okay!

All indications suggest that the true power of the buccaneers is the "Power of Love," and everything points to Teach seeking revenge...
This is evidenced by the name of the real-life Blackbeard's SHIP:
Queen Anne's Revenge!

And the name of Bonney, Kuma's daughter, comes from the real-life pirate...

If you want one more piece of evidence... This one is pretty obvious:

@comrade @Erkan12 @Reborn @MonsterKaido @TEACH D TEACH @Blackbeard etc...

I like the parallels but I simply don't think he's a buccaneer because of his physical characteristics, I think Whitebeard and Kuma are both buccaneers, they're over 6m tall and have that long blocky chin, Kuma's father is also similar, Teach doesn't look like them at all.

I think he is, that would explain him almost breaking Ace's neck with a physical blow, demonstrating immense superhuman strength.

A buccaneer was simply a term used to refer to any privateer or free sailor roaming in the Caribbean during the 17th and 18th centuries. They'd make jerky in little huts that the French would call Boucans and sell them to Corsairs. The term was later used for certain pirates, but it's semantics at this point.

I can see Blackbeard being a buccaneer; I don't really have any issues with that. His hair and odd proportions are kind of in line with Kuma's. However, at the same time, Teach does strike me as someone who is truly unique from the rest. So even if he does turn out to be part of the race that got wiped out by the WG long ago, there must be a genetic mutation in his lineage at the very least to explain why he can eat multiple devil fruits.

For all we know, he could be a subset of that race, an outlier, hence why he is "special." We'll know more about this as we begin to approach the endgame. I hope we get an answer soonish.

Yes, those are interesting parallels. But I don't think Teach is just another Buccaneer. The last chapter suggested that Teach is special in his own right, which is also evident from the fact that even by the Goroseis own admission, being able to wield two Devil Fruits is unheard of. Given Kuma was introduced as a Buccaneer before that and referred to as a simple slave race that needs to serve or die, I doubt that Teach just happens to be another one from that race.

Maybe it could be his crew mates hyping him up

I don't think it's empty hype. When questioned, Devon herself said she follows Teach because he is special, to which Saturn himself agreed. Of course, the fact he wields 2 DFs is in itself special. Plus being a D and for some reason never sleeping. Imu is concerned about Teach as he is about Nika, Poseidon and Lily's descendant.

I referred to he is special from their pov bc he freed them, leads them and together they became more and more powerful

I believe for Luffy to Activate One Piece, He must Sacrifice his Power, Wealth & Fame
Luffy's Power is his Body, his Wealth is his Straw Hat, his Fame is his Crew
Why? Because They are Copies of an Ancient Body, Ancient Straw Hat & Ancient Crew

Ancient Body refers to OG Nika's Body
Ancient Straw Hat refers to One seen in Levely Arc
Ancient Crew refers to OG Crew of Flying Dutchmen

Nika's Body was Eaten by Azure Dragon (As Indicated by Shandians Flashback, who Worshipped Nika & made Sacrifices to Blue Snake)
Ancient Straw Hat was Taken/Stolen by Owner of that Secret Area in Mary Geoise (It's clearly a Reference to Davy Jones Locker)
Flying Dutchmen Crew was Sacrificed to Sea God (As mentioned in Fishmen Island Arc)

So Luffy's Sacrifices must be done against Three Villains who inherited Same Powers as these Three i just mentioned
In other words:

He must Die against Villain with Azure Dragon (Blue Snake) Powers
He must Lose his Straw Hat against Villain with Davy Jones Powers (An Ability to send anything to his Underworld-Like Space)
He must let his Crew drown when He is facing Villain with Sea God Powers (Obviously a Whirlpool just like Luffy in Chapter 2)

These Villains are none other than Kaidou, Blackbeard & Man With Burn Scar
Kaidou Invaded Wano
Blackbeard is gonna Invade Mary Geoise
Man With Burn Scar gonna Invade Elbaf

So regarding Blackbeard, He is basically New Davy Jones, just like Kaidou is Azure Dragon & Luffy is Nika
And Davy Jones is Worst & Most Evil Pirate in History, He had Powers of Darkness & Space Inside is known to People as "Davy Jones Locker"
I believe He was Original Buccaneer (Which means Pirate), and He was like Sea Devil himself

In Kaidou's Saga, We had Caesar working on Army of Beasts (That is Countered by O-Tama)
In this Blackbeard's Saga, We have Vegapunk working on Army of Buccaneers (That is Countered by Bonney)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So simply,

Replace Wano with Mary Geoise
Replace Momo with Imu
Replace Tama with Bonney
Replace Caesar with Vegapunk
Replace Doffy with Akainu
Replace Smile Army with Buccaneer Kuma's Clones (Pacifista)
Replace Giant Kids with Seraphim Kids
Replace Kaidou with Blackbeard
Replace Luffy's Death with Losing his Straw Hat
Replace Onigashima with Secret Area in Mary Geoise
Replace Scabbards with Holy Knights
Replace Big Mom with Secondary Villain who's gonna Team-Up with Blackbeard
... etc

So Overall, just like Kaidou was King of Beasts (Azure Dragon), Blackbeard is King of Buccaneers (Davy Jones)

Saturn said the buccaneers were extinct, yet he knows about Teach’s heritage.

So whatever Teach’s lineage is, it’s not buccaneer.

My theory is that he is ancient kingdom royalty and a direct successor to the throne of the ancient kingdom. A one piece Targaryen. That’s why Kuzan joined the BBP, why everyone else did as well. Teach is the inheritor of the world.

I think Shiryu is from the same tribe but not part of the direct line of succession. That’s why he’s Teach’s RHM.

Maybe Teach also has some Ancient Giant Lineage in addition to being a Buccaneer. It would explain his strength and unusual body. Other interesting thing to note is that on the Blackbeard Jolly Roger has three skulls which is also something that Oars was wearing three skulls on his waist.

I don't think he is. The panel emphasized on his bloodline is special and not race specifically.

Which makes me believe he is linked with Xebec and some big shot of Void century

Teach is the last unknown race that BM is missing - Kuma is Buc, King is Lunarian and Teach is going to be the last one.
