I don't think killing Kaido does anything to the story. If Doffy, Crocodile are still alive what is the use of killing him? Letting him live after defeat in shame is better. Luffy crushed his dream of dying a glorious death.

I can only take this hint to mean, Kaido is defeated. The punch is so powerful it sends him flying and he hits both Akaiunu and BlackBeard at the same time. Dragon appears with the last Road Poneglyph. The One Piece is on Wano. Next chapter is last chapter.
