Didn't it 3 because the next chapter should be 984 and until 987 no break:
Chapter 984 Postponed (Author)
Chapter 984
Chapter 985
Chapter 986
Break 987
tbh Oda has been rushing through wano as of now in a lot of parts. i would wish for the opposite where he would take more of his time to flesh the story out

I personally think he's going as fast as he can. With 60+ named characters, there's only so much he can do in 16 pages of context per week with breaks. Like if you read the chapters back to back, the pacing honestly has been excellent imo, with major things happening almost every chapter (Jinbe's return, F6 intro, Marco's intro, Yamato's intro, etc) on top of managing to dedicate a page or two to all facets of the war/major groups.
It's masterful shit. Even if you don't like it, you gotta appreciate Oda's dedication to being able to juggle all of these characters and get them to one point.
Im not saying oda didnt flesh out wanos mainland enough, but rather he cut out character interactions to the utmost maximum. he cut out zoro meeting yasu and fodderizing the gamblers, he cut out the blow from Big Mom against Chopper+Usopp in their tank, he cut out some stuff in the flashback, he cut out some important scenes where shinobu and law had a serious argument etc.

You honestly might be right, I saw the points you made. But it depends on how much Oda fleshes out everything. If he gives Kid a small flashback, along with Zoro on his lineage, along with a Rock's flashback. Hell, Yamato may get one depending on his goals. Even moreso, Jinbe of all people may get one because I still think someone on Wano gave him his scar and Oda has been waiting for that moment (I think it's Sasaki), plus he's joining after this arc. If Carrot joins as well, boom flashback.
Then on top of this, yes, 2 Yonko may or may not fall this arc. That's alot of dedicated time and chapters.
I think we can all agree we are probably 40-50% done with Wano at the most. There still is a fuck ton left.
good post! I know a lot of people are impatient, but i rather have a great build up rather than a rushed one. I also think reading it weekly is hard because we want to get to the meat. One piece is a story where we can gladly theorize every week about every minor line in every chapter. In comparison to Kingdom, i wait until an arc is over and then binge it. Its a great experience. I CANT IMAGINE the weekly Kingdom read, because there is a lot of "these pages arent necessary" moments that can fuck the fandom up, but on bingeread those elaborating panels and pages flesh out the narrative a lot and gives you a better vibe. really like it.

And this is definitely Oda's goals too. He wants his characters to breathe and feel "real", not just random people who appear with no explanation. The leadup to the major battles is important because he's still characterizing both sides of the war.

yoooooo the zoro eye opener moment will be broadcasted on national television for its hypeness. Internet will be going wild
also yeah. About Post wano which i just shortly mentioned. We all know Wano is the most major arc, and every end of a saga had its own little "post arc". Like for example Post alabasta, with robin joining new bounties etc. Post Dressrosa with the fleet, kaido introduction etc. Now the longest one we had was **POST ENIES LOBBY** Enies Lobby is (imo.) to this day the biggest (finished) Saga we had in One Piece. And that one had flippin 11 Chapters of "Post Enies Lobby". Now i want guys to guess how long post wano will be , based on the fact that its essentially a Super saga that kicked off way back in FMI that is coming to its conclusion.
We will get a lot of fucking crazy shit at the end of Wano, and i doubt it will be less than 10 chapters alone for that. I assume between 15-20 personally, even if it seems like a stretch, but i hope my reasoning is understandable
yeah the last kingdom arc literally had 150 Chapters. and from what ive heard it was a big struggle for weekly readers. I mean 150 chapters is like a 4 year arc. And i binged it in exactly 4 days. Completly different experience

I agree. Post-DR was also around 10 chapters so in the least around that length. With Wano having way more characters and a deeper plot, the epilogue will be longer this arc

Yes. I can also give a shorter reasoning for my 100+ minimum chapters left.
Luffy vs Katakuri was around 20 Chapters long.
So in my mind its obvious the fight in taking down a yonkou is taking a bit longer (i know there were 1+2 other plotthreads while the katakuri vs Luffy fight was going on, but that will be in wano too. And not only 1 or 2 but a lot more plotthreads. Easily 10+ based on the amount of big players)
Taking a yonkou down 30 Chapters. Taking 2 Down 55-60 Chapters. Post wano an additional of 15 Chapters = 70-75 Chapters already.
Then all the other points like the 1v1s, Flashbacks, Zoro lineage, the Fall of the alliance at the start (which im a holy believer in) some characters will die and get 1-2 dedicated chapters to them etc.
I dont think those stuff amounts below 20 chapters
