One Piece is a story about how Luffy is going to create his own legend. And we have already started with these legends, the last of which was Big News calling him the 5th Emperor. The next Luffy legend is taking down the legendary Kaido 1 v. 1.

Read Oda's interview from 2016. He has 0 intention of making it anything other than a 1 v. 1 battle.

“When Kaido appeared for the first time, I said that Luffy can’t defeat such a strong character yet. And I’m yet to know how Luffy would defeat Kaido. Probably my audience will not be satisfied if the reason for defeating Kaido is just because Luffy’s punch is so strong. Luffy and I have to find a solution somehow.”

and that’s one of the many reasons why zoro will kill and defeat kaido

My hope with smaller less important fights sprinkled in between
  1. Luffy tag teams kaido his first top tier in wano
  2. He later solos his first top tier whether its linlin or an admiral like green bull maybe
  3. Finally he defeats pk level bb
Also depending on Imus role he might be his final main battle

Yeah! As much as I like to see Zoro vs. Kaido, Luffy is probably capable of taking Kaido alone.

Specially since Oden took on Kaido alone.
Ah yes so since a top tier took on and was about even with 20 years ago kaido and who was hyped up beyond believe by everyone (roger and wb included), that must mean Luffy who got neg diffed and got completely overwhelmed a few days ago will take on a stronger version alone. Makes perfect sense. You people are in for a rude awakening. You all are super fickle when it comes to either extremely overhyping someone ( ie kaido thinking he mid/high diffs other top tiers) or extremely underhyping them and the people they were shown having a struggle with( again kaido and oden). There is no in between for you guys.

I have read enough of your Kaido wank. I haven't extremely underhyped Kaido. Kaido isn't the invincible monster you guys believes him to be. If you disagree with me, that's fine. But Kaido has no FEAT that puts him on any pedestal.

Again, I'd loved to see Luffy and Zoro fighting together to bring down Kaido, but I don't think Kaido is any special monster than Crocodile was to Luffy during Alabasta or Lucci was during W7. So, Kaido vs. Luffy 1v1 is a real possibility.

I'm not sure if Luffy will solo him from start to finish, but yes at one point, it'd turn into a 1 on 1 between Luffy and Kaido. That much is clear. Oda could have easily continued to show Kaido's aura of invincibility in this flashback, but he didn't. On the contrary he used it to show Kaido in a vulnerable state while using someone(Oden) as a benchmark comparatively to Luffy. It was to reduce Kaido's reach comparatively to Luffy's

- Oden fought him in a 1-on-1 with him easily bypassing Kaido's dragon durability that Luffy was training in Udon the entire time to manage.

That shows imo that in the next battle between Luffy and Kaido, Luffy at the very least will be portrayed as a significant threat compared to Kaido. If not, there would have been no purpose in destroying Kaido's aura of invincibility just before the Raid in Onigashima

Furthermore than this, the entire hype around Kaido is resolving around the fact people bet he doesn't lose in a 1-on-1. This will be used by Oda to make Luffy contradict that hype, just like he did with Katakuri who was mentioned to have never lost before fighting Luffy. Oda always like to do stuffs like this with his main character

Pretty much agree, since Oden was stronger than Kaido Luffy needs to win alone to be at least what Oden was compared to Roger and WB (a fly bigger than the others).

Zoro will probably fight the only legit strong swordsman we have seen so fat aka King, maybe he will help Momo with Orochi or something like that. I don't put him vs Kaido just for the sword, he has more beef with Orochi so maybe the samurai guard as an appetizer before King?

Jinbe will take Queen and make the fatass battle.

Chopper will revenge Pedro for Carrot.

Sanji will continue with his killing streak from WCI so cook something really delicious for somebody (BM again?).

Kidd and Law have Apoo, Hawkins, x Drake ot whatever. There is also a Smoothie left.

Dukes for Jack.

It's good to see that people finally starting to realize and accept what I was saying since Kaido's introduction, and to add even more to it I wanna say that Oda had Kaido vs Luffy fight in his mind since time skip based the training that Luffy went in Rusukaina. Luffy's training was about defeating wild beasts, actually handereds of wild beasts and he sexesfuly defeated them "and as we know Kaido is known as Kaido of 100 beast" and after defeating every beast in Rusukaina the only one is left to be defeated is the King of The Beasts "and guess who is known as King of The Beasts?" By making Luffy's training the way that he should fight against beasts it was kind of Oda's way of preparing Luffy for enemy who has insanely tough skin and physicall strength (in order to defeat the King of The Beasts you should first defeat every strong beast on the planet which Luffy has done).

Going by facts is wanking now? Luffy couldn’t hit croc but was stronger physically than him . Lucci best back base luffy and zoro and luffy made him bleed. Kaido speed blitzed him, took all his strongest attacks and shrugged them off then one shot him unconscious for hours. Get real mate. Put some respect on the yonko name. Not being able to die doesn’t equal invincible. We already knew for a good while that oden wounded him so what exactly changed? The fact that he and oden were about even? Or the fact that he acted like a pirate and took advantage of odens distraction? None of those should correlate with your perception of him. Unless you thought luffy was gonna 1vs1 him before this flashback started. Oden was a top tier and recognized by wb and roger for his strenght. Luffy is nowhere near that level at the moment. That’s it. So what if he gets the ability to actually hurt him? Does that make him bridge the huge gap in physical strenght and general stats they have?
Why do you think law and the other supernova are there?

But we already knew he wasn’t invincible since oden was said to have hurt him? What changed exactly? It said that he couldn’t die not that he was invincible by the way.
