I would assume his ephithet hawk eyes has to do with his incredible sight which is tied to coo
shiryu's ability should force zoro to develop his as well providing a perfect counter to mihawk's ability.
but ofc , this is nothing more than opinion of mine.

yall remember shiryu getting the diamond fruit and beating mihawk.
or shiryu isnt a pure swordsman so he cant be wss
