Oda gave Luffy a Nika Fruit to balance out how unfair he had been to Luffy.
Luffy was not taught any martial arts, was not taught Swordsmanship/ Clubmanship and did not physically train in his life until Wano.
Oda did thia because Luffy had not changed since he was child besides haki.
Even Garp has top of the level marine training.
So no, it did not ruin Luffy. This HAD TO BE DONE.

Luffy being a zoan makes a lot of sense. Even before the reveal, people commented about how Luffy's fruit worked more like a zoan than a paramecia, due to how it didn't produce anything or control the environment, but strictly buffed his body.
What I think is kinda shitty is how Nika wasn't introduced until several chapters before the reveal.

NIKA backwards in AKIN which means "Of similar character or related by blood"
If you switch the "N" sideways you get a "Z" then "I" -> Is, "K" is "Kill", the winged check mark thingy is a sword slash and finally "A" is for "AIDO". No "K" because head is cut off. ZKK.

Still can’t get over the fact that the Gorosei should have known that Luffy was a mythical Zoan all along and yet they never sent any top Cipher Pol agents/Warlords/Admirals to capture/assassinate him even as he was running around the Grand Line as a complete weakling up until the past 2 or so months.

By that logic, folk like Bellamy, Miss Valentine, Machvise, Urouge, and Jozu are Zoans. They all have powers that neither produce anything nor control their environment and unlike Luffy, they all also have to purposefully activate their powers just like Zoans do.
This is actually the first I have ever heard of anybody arguing for Luffy being a Zoan before the recent reveal. I have seen more arguments for him being a unique subcategory of "solid Logia". I think it was Monkey D. Xatch that made that theory back on OJ. Something to do with rubber being a natural material found in nature and Luffy's permanent passive ability physically affecting his body being more similar to the passive ability of Logia users than anything else.
I would still sooner take that than this Nika bull.

All I can say is that it's really a shame that Luffy reached this point. However, this didn't come out of nowhere.
Oda has been going down this path for a long time.
The only difference is that with G5 he has taken the biggest step in the wrong direction so far.
Shame that we have to switch our brains off due to MC having a decently large amount of panel time.

Don't forget that they sent Who's fucking Who to guard the most important devil fruit of all time. It sounds like the start of a comedy sketch to be honest.
