Anyway, seems like clockwork that we get these posts trying to deny Luffy vs Akainu. Does it really frighten people that much?
I have not seen the like in any other series where certain people are clamouring for the MC to not fight the antagonist that killed the person dearest to them. And just because they don’t like what it says about the antagonist’s strength as well.

A lot of the fanbase is childish, sure…but sacrificing the best possible storytelling just to satisfy the bizarre hatred of a character’s strength is simply astounding. I’ve really never seen anything like it in any of the fandoms of all the various media I consume.

Luffy will surpass the admirals in egghead. Out of all the admirals, Kizaru has the best DF. It’s even better than Akainu’s magma fruit. While Akainu is likely stronger due to haki, I just don’t think it’s to the point to where he can actually be an arc villain.

This means that in all likelihood, the other admirals are falling to side characters. Probably:

• Sabo vs Akainu
• Kid vs GB
• Law vs Fujitora

I think GB and Fuji could fall before the final war. But Akainu will likely be Sabo’s EoS matchup.

A part of me used to want this but as of now I don’t see why Sabo would be up against Akainu especially now with the revelation of the Gorosei being fighters, and the Holy Knights existing they seem like much more relevant encounters for someone like Sabo. Marines have always been the major adversaries of pirates, even Akainu believes the Holy Knights should be responsible for dealing with revolutionaries. I even used to push Dragon vs Akainu but again after Imu, Gorosei, Holy Knights (especially Garling) being introduced as celestial dragon powerhouses the need for this matchup has dissolved in my mind. The adult Seraphim would also be an in-house world govt threat that even further pushes away Rev and Marine interaction. Now for Law he will be a major player in the war especially after learning the D history he seeks, but that makes me think he’ll also be aiming his power at the celestial dragons as well. Now Kid has been totally focused on making a name for himself as a pirate and now he’s been setback, and it may be harder for him to bounce back then it is for Law because he has zero ally’s/ connections and his dream is harder to obtain. I can’t see what his motive for involving himself in the Great War to come, I guess he could gain more clout but idk if this is exactly the type of situation he’d throw himself in. Kizaru just may go down in egghead to Luffy, he might even be out of commission for the war after facing G5. Akainu, Fujitora (despite his feelings) and Greenbull seem tailor made to be Luffy, Zoro, Sanji opponents for the early half of the war. For people saying Zoro and Sanji should never get opponents comparable to Luffy’s, well Akainu is the fleet and probably noticeably superior to the newly drafted admirals, not only in authority, and Luffy would have already taken down one of the old guard in Kizaru so the monster trio dynamic wouldn’t be affected really.

Fuji vs zoro just isn't happening. The other choice for zoro matchup would be Kizaru but that would only happen if kizaru doesn't go down this arc.
