I think only the "chosen ones" being able to counter the Holy Knights would be extremely lame and run counter to Oda's style.

It seems much more likely to me the counter is a matter of knowledge and technique, not special bloodlines and secret abilities. This isn't Gaban's first encounter with an HK, and there's also really no reason to believe it's only his second. We know so little of what the Roger Pirates got up to or when.
I can see where you’re coming from when you say lame, but I’m not sure I agree with your take on it running counter to Oda’s style. I mean Luffy is quite literally the chosen one (I.e. god Nika) & so was Joyboy before him. So not sure what exactly is counter to Oda’s style. Hell we’ve even had Luffy being a natural born counter to Enel’s Logia.

Personally I think the D blood line is special in some way & given they are said to be the enemy of god, there’s gotta be a reason why. Even Imu has once said that D’s have forgotten what they are actually capable of or sumin along those lines iirc but I digress.

Knowledge & Technique will also probably be a counter to it after all Gaban is not a D as far as we know & Roger never seemed to possess the Nika fruit. I just think expecting everyone including those that don’t even know how to use Haki to learn a special Haki technique in such a short time is unrealistic. It also somewhat cheapens what regen is actually supposed to be (mid hats individually would actually stand a chance against Marco for instance with this 💀). I mean even durability monsters like Kaido or Linlin required extreme finesse or hax in order to be damaged but we can disagree on this 🫂.

Its sad that if Sanji ever were to get a serious and long fight, it would be out of the ordinary and inconsistent. His last serious opponent was Kuroobi, and his last competent opponent was Jabra.

As of now Sanji is built as a character who fights fodders or incompetent fools, and has a few showings that may indicate that he's stronger than we think....but it doesnt matter because he will never prove it.

Dont compare Sanji with Gaban, who's only here so Oda can wank off Old gen and people linked to Roger. Sanji wont ever get this kind of focus when it comes to combat.

Sanji vs Sommers is happening :goyea:

In a 1v1 Pre timeskip Sanji defeated:

- Fullbody
- Kuroobi
- Mr 3
- Mr 2
- Crazy Chef guy (forogt his name)
- Jabra
- Absalom
- Duval

In a 1v1 Post timeskip Sanji defeated:

- Raisin
- Queen

But sure let's live in delulu world.
If you’re counting Mr. 3 and full body you may as well count sheepshead, bobbins, and yonji.

Pre timeskip Sanji was in 14 arcs pre timeskip. Averaging 1 win every 2 arcs. Post timeskip Sanjis been in 7 arcs. Averaging 1 win every 1.5 arcs. So technically post timeskip Sanjis fighting more per arc???

You get Yonji....but for the life of me I cannot remember who Sheepshead is. Bobbin wasnt defeated by Sanji.
----

Sure cause pre timeskip had more mini arcs where he didnt get fights. If we count main arcs and main fights.

Arlong Park: 1v1 against Kuroobi
Fishman Island: No 1v1

Alabasta: 1v1 against Mr 2
Dressrosa: No 1v1

Skypeia: No 1v1
Whole Cake: No 1v1

Ennies Lobby: 1v1 against Jabra
Wano: 1v1 against Queen

Thirller Bark: 1v1 against Absalom
Egghead: No 1v1

Sabaoundy: 1v1 against Duval
Elbaf: No 1v1

In the time pre timeskip Sanji got 5 fights, post timeskip Sanji has only 1. But again stay delusional.

Bobbins was literally one shot by Sanji
Sheepshead was a dude in Zou

Post timeskips only had 3 big arcs and Sanji left half way through one of them. WCI where he fought Yonji, Wano where he fought Queen, and Dressrosa where he left half way through after taking down Doffys entire intelligence network.

Sanji will get a fight in Elbaf, then a fight in the BBP arc, then a fight in the Mariejoa war. Beyond that probably not.
