Same. I can't pretend I'd be ok with him not getting it because Oda sowed the seeds for it to happen and it's too late to go back now. I don't believe for a second it could be a red herring, but if it is, it'd be incredibly lame imo. if PoL isn't haki and he has it, it should complement CoC, not replace it.

In the case that Oda once again develops Luffy & Zoro Haki wise on Elbaf and goes a different route with Sanji like PoL. Assuming the latter has no relation to Haki are you going to have Zoro >> Sanji then?
Coz any development that isn’t Haki or CoC related doesn’t seem to matter by your logic.

For a start, Ifrit is the product of Germa and Armament training.
Secondly, Zoro possesses CoC and CoC Infusion, but the only Haki technique he consciously uses Sanji doesn't is CoA Imbuement - for obvious reasons.
I will never understand why people default to accepting the biased framing of the gap in Armament between Sanji and Zoro being enormous. Sanji is not only an unarmed martial artist, he has more Armament feats than Zoro has Observation feats. In terms of Observation, by feats, the gap actually is dramatic.
As for Conqueror's Haki - Elbaph is specifically foregrounding CoC as the key difference maker against Immortals. This is nothing new because CoC has been what separates the cream from the crop in One Piece since Dressrosa to now (Doflamingo, Katakuri, Big Mom, Kaidou, Shanks, the Gorosei, and now Imuko).
CoC Infusion specifically is the big difference maker. It's basically Armament on steroids.
As I've said, if Luffy could gain so much in Haki based on what he gained in physicality in Udon, then Sanji's new physical attributes augmented by CoC should vault him to Admiral level. He's already second fastest in the verse and has the feats in Egghead to prove this latest power up translates to an enormous improvement in AP, most clearly evidenced by Sanji completely dominating S-Shark on his own, and in base.
That's not my logic.
The stronger Haki wins out. A weaker Conqueror isn't winning a clash of wills against a much stronger foe that doesn't have it.
Haki is the end all be all in One Piece.
Whatever PoL could be separate to that, it would still just be additive to Sanji's other abilities.
Just look at how Oda incorporated his Germa abilities with Haki.
I am confident Sanji will end the arc with CoC, CoC Infusion, CoO Future Sight, a working understanding of what PoL is and how to use it to defy physics, and possible advanced CoA techniques as a result of learning CoC Infusion, because all masters of the latter appear to be high level users of Armament.

Since WCI, Oda's made it clear that those surviving at the top of the world need higher levels of Haki mastery the higher they go.
Luffy couldn't even defend himself against Kaidou with advanced Armament. He had to learn CoC Infusion to really be in the fight.
Gaban is 1 of 4 characters shown with Future Vision and CoC Infusion, abilities Rayleigh and Kaidou respectively associated with the strongest in the world.
Given his past as a former Wing of the Pirate King, it's all but a given Gaban possesses at least CoA Emission, if not both Emission and Internal Destruction.
This is after all a man that sensed the Strawhats on Egghead all the way from Elbaph, and picked up on the presence of Knights as soon as they arrived, and demonstrated the ability to bypass the regenerative abilities, and saw fit to lecture Zoro specifically on the importance of mastering Haki.

Sanji turned it on when he started playing with his food.
