So Oda puts Sanji with the weakling trio, like I suspected. Who else is gonna protect them.
But we also have the strategic trio Sanji/Nami/Usopp in this group. They should prove a very dangerous component of the assaulting force in that respect(if Oda hasn't forgotten about his own characters, that is).
And what do you guys think is the significance of putting Sanji on the top of the tank instead of inside it? Will he eventually be separated from the group to do his own thing?

Yh it would be stupid to waste Sanji's strength and leave him inside the tank.

I wouldn't worry about Sanji not getting his limelight. Oda fully knows he's off-paneling Sanji the way he does. Which means the more he off-panels him now the more likely that he'll get to shine later. No way a prominent strawhat like Sanji aint getting his due time.
Sanji will prove to be a critical part of the alliance. He wouldn't have portrayed Sanji like this otherwise:
I would actually like if they team up to a certain point, to show us the great potential of such a dynamic trio. And then the enemy would prove too formidable where Nami/Usopp are unable to keep up and Sanji has no choice but continue solo. Or something like that. No reason why we couldn't get both, because Sanji can be both a solo guy and a team player.

Imo the best matchups would ve something like Zoro and Usop vs King and Sanji and Chopper vs Queen, similar to Luffy and Nami vs Cracker.
They can't be strong enough to defeat the calamities alone.
Talking about Sanji and Chopper vs Queen, i can see Chopper helping Sanji landing heavier hits and curing Sanji from Queen's disease. Then Sanji becomes blind, Chopper is defeated in front of him (well he is gonna feel it
) and our cook is pushed to his limits and develops FS (well perception perhaps is a better word).
Then he kicks Queen all over Onigashima unable to defeat him until he shows the ace in his sleeve: falling from the sky at high speed (in a way similar to the anime only last kick on P1) and thanks to the RS' fire resistance the hottest DJ ever with blue flames will be created and Queen will be defeated
