I think Naruto as an anime was probably bigger globally, but One Piece has always been one of the biggest worldwide still, it took off long before Naruto ended.

One Piece only took off once Naruto ended. When they were both running at the same time Naruto was dominating discussions on english boards.

Fair enough you will know it better than me when it comes to Naruto but i obviously meant overall till now so yea Shippuden finishing a lot earlier is a huge factor

Naruto was comfortably more popular than OP and Bleach when all 3 were still serializing too

OP worldwide reach was nowhere near as big due to lack of shipping. Naruto had both powerscaling shit and shipping shit. Half of Naruto readers were women. Also the story and powers were much more interesting with constant plot twists and mysteries. OP had MF which is when it peaked but the structure of running around and wasting time on fodder was extremely repetitive and tiresome (still is)

OP is massively popular worldwide don’t get me wrong. But if both Naruto and OP were to end at roughly the same time Naruto would prob be the most memorable
