General & Others There was never a Charachter in Fiction that threw off the Fanbase of a certain Show as Zoro does with the One Piece Fanbase.

Naruto was comfortably more popular than OP and Bleach when all 3 were still serializing too

OP worldwide reach was nowhere near as big due to lack of shipping. Naruto had both powerscaling shit and shipping shit. Half of Naruto readers were women. Also the story and powers were much more interesting with constant plot twists and mysteries. OP had MF which is when it peaked but the structure of running around and wasting time on fodder was extremely repetitive and tiresome (still is)

OP is massively popular worldwide don’t get me wrong. But if both Naruto and OP were to end at roughly the same time Naruto would prob be the most memorable
Do you actually think shipping is what gave naruto broader worldwide appeal? Thats interesting

Shipping definitely helped. Look at the most recent popularity poll which was worldwide, Sakura came in 3rd place

Shipping wars were just as toxic if not more than powerscaling shit. There was also a poll from the Shonen Jump magazine that said half of readers were female

The last popular filler anime arc in Boruto was adult Sasuke and Sakura on a mission together, it even had a spin off manga adaptation

You can talk shit about Sakura and her toxic relationship with Sauce but there is not doubt that this ship and others drew in THAT crowd. You see the same with JJK for SatoSugu that ship brought an entire fandom at its beck and call insane levels of popularity

How the Hell did Sakura get that 3rd Place?? She went from Ugly to looking like a Trashcan. So many Women in Naruto outhere who are prettier than her dont get me even started Temari and Ino for starters...

Sanji fans inject this bum into discussions. No one really gives a damn about him since TS, or in the very least since WCI.
If you still think Sanji will return to his former glory you are out of luck. Cut your losses and switch to Jinbe or Coby or something.

When Rayleigh was depicted as a womanizer you tried to compared him to Sanji. Your hopes were high. Then he got fodderized in WCI and DR.
Now that Gaban was depicted as a lecher you tried to compare him to Sanji. Your hopes are high again. The ride never ends.

Isn't it crazy how for every shounen, the second most popular character in the show is always the most polarizing. Either the most glazed character or the most downplayed one. The character's fanbase is either seen as the most unbiased fanbase or a dictator's army.

Unless there is chapter discussion, Even Japanese fandom only talk about zoro and Sanji. Everything is about zoro and sanji now
Look at this shit

When you complain that Oda may be ruining Luffy's character, One piece fanbase will take it personally and start insulting
Even people who call themselves Luffy fans, only talk about Zoro or Sanji
Stupid fanbase

I hate Oda for this, Oda doesn't realize he is killing Luffy's appeal.
He shouldn't listen to fanbase and why the fuck Luffy needs to be Goku 2.0
Generic fans are worse than haters

Zoro was always popular and liked by the fandom, but this fully reatard new fandom of him started after the influx of Narutards, edgy-shonen readers and people who follow manga thought YT reactions got into OP and the OP fandom transitioned from being the one with good theories and discussions to being the as brain-dead as the Uchiha Fandom

I'm not sure why Zoro is so polarizing. It seems like, in order to be a "proper" member of the One Piece community, you're basically forced to choose a pro-Zoro or anti-Zoro stance lol.

Even among people who claim to be neutral, it is usually very obvious which side of the land they fall on.
Zoro isn’t a polarizing character at all. He’s written to be the cool character that everyone likes (Oda is on record saying this multiple times)

He’s only polarizing in the fandom because of fan wars/powerscaling

Everybody that watches One Piece without interacting with the fandom likes him

You can’t really compare him to characters like Sasuke or Bakugo

Yeah, was talking specifically about the fandom. As a character he’s not really controversial at all

I remember when you first joined because it wasn't long after I did.

You started off as neutral as possible and played it safe with the Luffy >= Zoro >= Sanji take or something similar to that. I was just waiting to see how long you could stay that course. The constant exposure to the extreme haters made you descend more into the madness and I watched you align yourself more with Zoro. Although you're not an extreme Zoro rider.

:ihaha:

I've also seen the ones who say they're neutral and slowly but surely expose themselves eventually to being Zoro haters.

It's actually extremely fascinating to watch.

For real lmaooo. Can't survive out here until you pick a side.

Tbh, if you had asked me when I first joined this forum, I would've said I was a fan of Zoro but I most definitely wouldn't have thought I'd go all in on him.

This place has a way of drawing out your beliefs and making them more and more extreme lmao.

It’s cause the MC are mostly basic and copies of other MCs , secondary characters are also usually more fearsome/ruthless in attitude making them more cooler and they will have plot but not as much as the MC so to think about them keeping up is a badass feeling.
