I like them too. Sometimes people have high expectations but tend to forget about the plot.
Rebecca was a great character, she always wanted to respect what the toy soldier taught without even knowing it was her father.
It made more impact when she learnt the truth. That's where oda wanted to lead us. And there was a reason for all of the characters you mentioned to be the way they were

Most of my faves don't need defending ( Katakuri, Marco, Doffy, Wb ) i actually mostly have to debate against my faves ( admirals ) specially Fujitora it's a pity i have to bring up Morley everytime he is put up against a yonko
