General & Others This is absolutely shameless

Luffy’s dream is concealed because it’ll be related to the ending and like any good author on the planet you try to get the viewers hooked as much as possible. Nothing to do with bad writing at all.
Some random thing a random dumb kid can think of spoil the EOS ? Peak piece right here.
"Why don't they tell who the killer is at the start of the movie?"
:whitepress:
You make it sound so serious but it's canon that it's something dumb, we all saw their reaction. Oda try too hard to hide it because he expected us to react the same, that's all. In other word, baiting the reader. Don't compare the "killer" which is relate directly to the plot with this pathetic bait.

The dream was probably something that we already knew anyway, that people laugh at when a character mentioned it
Like finding One Piece

How does telling him about Coby make sense given what was already said about Vivi and his response to her asking if she should keep talking about the news?
Wdym? Even if Luffy won't do anything for Coby, knowing news about his friends will always please Luffy.

You probably got swept by the impression that Luffy not caring about politic & world affairs is the same as Luffy not caring about his friends.

This is just means that Oda doesn't want to touch that plotline yet, and forcing Robin as the hammer.

There is a difference between hooking your reader and baiting your reader. Oda is baiting his readers, not hooking them. Oda is essentially a used car salesman.
Oda is not baiting anyone 🤷‍♂️
Essentially he made it so everyone that should know before the story end knows and what more he did it on screen so there must be a reason, but like any other story decision Oda makes people question him without knowing why - One Piece isn’t perfect. It has its flaws but when it comes to story telling Oda is second to none in my opinion. Have patience I’m sure it’ll pay off.

tbh, this shouldn't be an issue, The Tittle is Onepiece and till now we still didn't have clue about that shit.

name a manga or anime that has a Tittle that was mystery to the readers watchers, until the endgame i'll wait.

Oda keeps adding mystery without even revealing the old one. it's piled up and he isn't done yet he will probably add more.

what's next? Imu's dream? the era before void century,? LOL
Post automatically merged:

I feel like more often than not the reveal for a secret is good in OP.

Wano isn't really a basis for the entire series
wano isn't the basis, but you have to consider, oda do have a habit of skipping shit, not only information like this, but things like fights and important events, just look the revery, he bring us there, then proceed skipping the most important incident.

Luffy's unintelligent, but not really as simple as I guess some people think. It's not "friend is in danger I must go." Even if his impulse is to rush it's tempered by the likes of his crew. His voyage is not about going around and having his hand forced by the opps.

Two parts here: Robin literally implies something else like the Vivi situation and Luffy declines the news. They'd just had that conversation so having it again makes no sense.

Blackbeard isn't easy to go find, you might come across him by chance or if he's set a trap. Either way, it's a very perilous effort for the sake of a Marine. Coby is a friend, but not considered family or crew. He's technically an enemy himself which is why Luffy schooled him in three out of three encounters.

He has his own people and his own path, towards Admiral, and it's complicated to interfere.

You are shameless.
Why not just make theories based on each shp members reaction? Each reaction has uniquely be choosen by Goda. Why the rush and the shame on Oda? He gave us 9 reactions on purpose so we can narrow down what Luffy's dream is.
Mr theories. Make your name honor and dont bash the poor man who works his entire life for your enjoyment. Start working in deducting with the hints given.

Why should we speculate every single chapter though? Fans appreciate the hard work through the time they dedicate to this work and purchasing the products the manga offers, it's not like Oda works for free. This manga has been running for 25 years, Luffy is already a yonko, even reached godhood, and we just started the final saga, the least he can do is reveal what his dream is really.

It would've been far more iconic if the dream was revealed, then a couple panels later we have the tyrant that stood at the top for 800? years pulverize a country out of existance, showcasing how at the end Luffy's vision will rid the world of this reign of terror.
But no, we get to have more hints that can't be deciphered whatsoever, along with other 1000 hints or..

It's also absurd how a loud mouth like Luffy still hasn't revealed his dream to his best friends, like even Ace told Yamato lol

No one is asking you to speculate every chapter. If Raizo reverses a flood or Luffy is punching Kaido, no one expects you to look any deeper.

But this chapter was expressly made for speculation. Imu and its power at the very least are massive chunks of the final battle. The fate of Sabo after such an attack is really up in the air. How Luffy's dream can possibly parallel such a terror is now at the core of the entire 25 years and counting story. Once you know it though, there's a reduced climax because you can understand how it will happen from before the arc actually starts.

Go write Saka Piece where you give a bunch of shit away on the jump then expect people to remain gripped for twenty years.

I still don't quite understand why you keep referring it as makes no sense. If you mean "Luffy will ignore/choose not to help Coby anyway, repeating his same answer twice is useless, thus makes no sense in drawing it/show it on panel", then yes, it makes no sense. Because it is repetitive and the point should get across from earlier decision about Vivi anyway. So no need to draw separate panels for 1 same plot point.

But what I'm referring to earlier (in a post you replied to) is about Coby and why Robin didn't tell Luffy about it. Of course we know it's because Oda doesn't want to deal with it now, this plot point is saved for later chapters. However it comes with a price, Robin's character.

1. Luffy is someone who cares about his friend.
2. Coby, doesn't matter his status or goal, is his friend (that's why they talk post EL despite coby being marine already)
3. Robin knows point #1
4. Robin knows Luffy and Coby are at least acquaintances that goes way back

Normally speaking, Luffy who hasn't meet Coby for 2 years, will be delighted to find info about him. Again, it doesn't matter how Luffy will react about Cobys situation, just telling Luffy news about Coby will be an act Luffy would appreciate. Because he cares about his friends.

But Robin doesn't tell him despite knowing Coby an acquaintance. It makes Robin feels like "withholding info". Oda can avoid this "detriment to Robin's character action" by making Coby's news places in another issue of newspaper that the SH doesn't get to read. But Oda doesn't. Oda had to taint Robin's character.

It also feels like she is selecting what Luffy need to know. It also feels like she is degrading Coby's standing in Luffy's mind. Oda should've made Robin said something like "there are news about vivi, blackbeard, coby, kingdom x, etc, what do you want to hear luffy?" Instead of her deciding what Luffy wants to know. In another view, if all SH reads the paper and doesn't care about Coby/not talk about him at all, it made them sounds like an apathetic people".

You just compared Luffy's sudden dream reveal after 25 years of manga along with all the inconsistencies to Raizo reversing a flood and Luffy punching Kaido.
Are you listening to yourself
:milaugh::milaugh:
Listen to yourself
every single chapter
No. One Piece is a gag series almost as much as action and adventure. That's why you have a plot where Luffy gets carried away by a giant bird, or Sanji almost dying from a nosebleed, or Zoro never ever calling Sanji by his actual name. Oda doesn't expect readers to take much of it seriously, which is like... the entire point of the main character's special power, as a reminder of that.

if we look at the serious side um... you have Zoro's lineage never being revealed yet. You have Shanks revealed as a treasure from God Valley. You have Sanji revealed as the prince of power rangers. You have the ancient weapons and ancient history, etc. The whole series literally screams "there's a bunch of shit you don't know yet" and one of Luffy's trademarks is straight up calling shit a mystery. Bottom line, to pick out the dream behind Luffy's ambition is pretty arbitrary. We don't even know the name of his fucking mom, lol. Welcome to 2002 message boards, in a thread right under the one asking about what the D stands for.

That could've been something Luffy should say as a sign of character development, but no let's ignore it like it didn't happen..
Robin not telling him is absolute bull no matter how you look at it.
What are they gonna about BB stealing Coby? You know the guy is a student of Garp right? Why wouldn't other people take care of it anyway?

One Piece was never a gag series, it has a comedic flow with gags here and there, but saying it's a gag series is laughable.
800 years of tyranny by Celestial Dragons who enslave, murder and rape whomever they like. A government that allows pirates to terrorize people so that latter will pay them tributes. If you start asking questions you and your entire island will get reduced to nothing etc
Have you even read the latest chapter? LMFAO haha so funny, this rebelling nation can fuck off and die:kobeha::kobeha::kobeha:

What are they gonna fo about BB stealing Coby?
What does that have to do with anything? The effect is separate from the cause. Robin should've told Luffy, whether Luffy takes action or not is up to him. As I said this was a perfect chance for Luffy to show signs of maturity considering he holds a lot of responsiblity now as an emperor. But instead Robin outright tells him he's retarded who can't handle two pieces of information.

Like the Carrot fan, all you show is flawed reading comprehension. You don't want to understand me just as you don't want this part of 1060 to make narrative sense, so I'm done with this boring discussion. Read or don't, like it or don't lol.

Like I said, the narrative is fine, because Coby's part doesn't want to be exposed this early, it's saved for later. So however it plays out, anything Coby won't be touched right now.

There are 3 "party" that has similar condition, Vivi Coby Hancock were in dire situations. However Oda only shows the "answer" to those 3 events with 1 scene, Vivi's. So it's normal if Coby's or Hancock's news aren't transmitted/known to Luffy.

The problem is it can be done without harming no one, but this chapter is detrimental to Robin.
