General & Others This is absolutely shameless

Oda angels still defending Oda from answering basic questions even after 25 years,

"It is part of the One Piece so he can't show it now even after 25 years and 1000+ chapters because we the readers are still not allowed to know anything about the One Piece because it is the One Piece and the story will be ruined and fall apart if anything about the One Piece gets hinted before the One Piece gets found by those people."

What kind of story has 1000+ chapters and the readers still don't know the main character dream? Lmao.
They are coping.

This scene is just him trying to fix the issue that. He did not tell his dream to his crew(obviously because it was not planned) earlier...like in the barrel scene when moving to GL for the first time. Its just stupid that no one in his crew knows about his dream. But has to fix that so added it now. And now it feels stupid. Problem is oda is trying to make it a mystery. But he sucks. Hiding stuff is not mystery. When something gets revealed its not great because there is no good setup, or meaning or hints for readers to do anything or care about it.

No one is asking you to speculate every chapter. If Raizo reverses a flood or Luffy is punching Kaido, no one expects you to look any deeper.

But this chapter was expressly made for speculation. Imu and its power at the very least are massive chunks of the final battle. The fate of Sabo after such an attack is really up in the air. How Luffy's dream can possibly parallel such a terror is now at the core of the entire 25 years and counting story. Once you know it though, there's a reduced climax because you can understand how it will happen from before the arc actually starts.

Go write Saka Piece where you give a bunch of shit away on the jump then expect people to remain gripped for twenty years.
Here to agree with this post.

no its not

There isn't a single one piece fan that legitimately thinks sabo is dead.

Once you know it though, there's a reduced climax because you can understand how it will happen from before the arc actually starts.

My entire point is that this isn't a good mystery. The main character's motivations are something that is so basic that almost every story explains them in detail way before the climax.
There's no reason for Oda to conceal this. If he needs to conceal this to make the climax feel special or keep people "gripped", then he's written himself into a corner.
Post automatically merged:

Its gonna be something silly and random and fun. Like having a dream of having a gigantic party for everyone or some shit
which is why concealing it is pointless

What an absolute god post, even naming the lord of the scrolls

I don't care about that shit Luffy dream, 15 years reading this shit to see him be King of the Pirates for Oda to want to renew the mystery and invent this shit.

I still say Luffy wants to go to space. Why did he have to declare that he was going to become Pirate King for over twenty years? Also the Strawhats are always affirming that Luffy is going to be Pirate King. Now what are they all going to shout? “Luffy is going to do that thing!”

Why would going to space be ever linked to being the pirate king?
It's either something about freedom or "making everyone smile".
Again another retcon that wasn't needed in my opinion, just liek the nika fruit that could have just been "the same fruit as Joyboy" and an awakened gum gum.

Luffy could still want to be the pirate king because it means X, and not just say that his dream is X. This heavyhanded foreshadwoing is pretty poor in delivery in my opinion, although needed because if Yamato knows it, of course the crew has to know it.
