He dominated even Hollow Ichigo with his Released form (idk what terms are used since i only read Bleach recently), to the point where Nel was surprised that Ichigo was getting his ass beat.

Taking that Bankai Getsuga Tensho scar & then taunting him later for it, Grimmjow was too good man. The Higher ranking Espadas were a let down compared to him and Ulquiorra, perks of fighting the MC i guess.

You might like bleach. The prime theme is all about fight , however you might find gags, storyline repetitive after soul society.

Also villains are likeables and have strong motivation on their goals.

Aizen is personally the best character in bleach the charisma he has is ultimate.

Ulquiorra especially with Second Release is taking a dump on Halibel lol.
And i also dont see Stark beating Barragan unless the wolves ignore Barragan's hax, he was the strongest iirc.

You don't have to look further than Ichigo vs Grimmjow. Grimmjow was several tiers above Byakuya who himself was levels above Hitsugaya. Halibel was having a starting contest with that dude. Vasto Lordes/Espada were hyped and even shown to be above most captains (through Ulq and Grimmjow) and then it all went to shit in the last hour. Like bruh how, it's like he gave up mid arc and decided, you know what fuck it Captains it is, even the weakest of the bunch taking on the strongest of the Espada out of left field. (Hitsugaya was struggling with Luppi who Grimmjow one shotted btw)

I don't exactly remember this but iirc it was said: Espadas can only fight to the fullest in Hueco Mondo, outside they will be nerfed.
Meaning, that Grimmjhow who gave Ichigo a beating was basically a nerfed one.

Instead of Grimmjhow hype, I think it is the author fooling around with the powerlevel. How come nerfed Sixth Espada beat up the guy who already beat 2 Mid Tier (not low) Captains: non eyepatch Kenpachi and Bankai Byakuya? Although tbf Byakuya only lost because Hollow Ichigo took over, while the Ichigo nerfed Grimmjhow beat up in this video is non hollow Ichigo.

Yeah pre HM arc it looks like average Espada > average Captain.
Later it is more like average Captain > average Espada. Lately I even saw Garp the Fist saying Yamamoto can solo all 10 Espadas and it actually makes sense.

Captains are more likeable than the Espadas though.

If Kubo didn't shit the bed with Halibel, Baragan, and Stark. Espada would be right up there with the Akatsuki.

They were shaping up to be just as iconic. I was caught up to Bleach at the time, and I got goosebumps when Stark all nonchalant revealed himself as the primera. 10/10 designs, attitude. Just not the abilities or the strength to go with it.

That Ulquiorra scene where he reveals he was only the 4th left my jaw on the floor. And the three jobbers ahead of him is what we got for it.

Kubo just packaged them up together and did them in because he was trying to wrap things up at that point. Captains had the luxury of being the "good guys" so we didn't need to see all of them defeated in the SS arc.

If Kubo had just said "The Espada are on par with Captains" rather than "The Espada dick on Captains", he probably would have had a better time.

To be fair, I had already considered power scaling Bleach a hopeless cause after seeing Ichigo go from Mid Tier to a Top Tier within the span of a single arc, so I didn't bat an eye when Captains were matching Espada. I just didn't care anymore. Lol.

Kubo has always had a habit of wanking his villains way too hard and then realising the mistake he made when it comes time to actually defeat these sassenachs. Case in point, Aizen and Yhwach. Their defeats sucked.

With the Espada all supposedly representing forms of death (some way more than others), you would think the Dark Souls boss looking mf who represents the inevitability of time would be the greatest threat.
