General & Others Top 5 Oda L’s of Wano

#61
Oda is a garbage writer, he presents you with a shining gold hype only to piss on your expectations by the end. Looking at Wano collectively is even more painful than reading his filler chapters weekly
-The red jobbers, 9 clowns with the least intriguing designs out there, and their jester lord who twerked naked for 5 years at the whims of his superior master Orochi, an act which basically fucked up Wano for 2 decades before the mystical fairy condom beat Orochi and his pawn Fraudo, only to put that very same jester's son Mohoenosuke on the throne. Watch Wano live worse days than they did under Lord Orochi and Fraudo
-Fraudo of the 100 hostages ended up being a completely retarded lizard with 0 comprehension and awareness, a character truly fit to be idolized by fatherless teenagers functioning on 10 pills a day. Instead of throwing a party after Pig Meme's death the dude started crying like a baby denied of his mothers teets, fucking hell
-Condom boy playing rope jump with Fraudo while asking every **** out there if they're having fun
-Yamahoe literally had 5 pieces of dialogue, Oda would draw a lot to choose which sentance he goes for
"I aM oDeN huurr durr"
"oDEn gOOd"
Stfu bitch, Kaido should've killed this guy when he had the chance

Wano was assssssss

I did a reread from Arlong Park all the way to ending of Arabasta and it legit made me cry at how disgustingly horrible Wano's writing is in comparison.

Yeah remember when we got multiple fleshed out cities that all had their own culture per island.

Or when villains were actually actively part of the plot instead of just some boss fight at the end of an arc.

Or actual build up to a satisfying conclusion.

Pepperidge farms remembers.

Bruh i loved Crocodile waaaaaaay more after rereading Arabasta saga. Lots of good moments i forgot about.

Dude's schemes were unfolding in the background even at his final breath fighting Luffy. BW agents screwing shit up between rebels and Royal Army even when Croc was two steps from going down is what made me like him as an antagonist, absolutely no retarded strength display, pure mastermind.

1. Oden was literally A Gary Stu
- As a child he stole the wives of many men
- He charmed the Worlds Strongest Man Whitebeard and Pirate King Roger
- Oda literally retconned the story for Oden wank with having him hear the seakings and the Poneglyphs
- Every character wanked him despite everything in wano canonically being his fault
I don't dislike or hate Oden, but I really hated the constant forced hype around his character. Oda could have naturally hyped him up but instead he had to tell us through other characters just how awesome he is, the Oden obsession is also what ruined Yamato's character for me.

- BMP and Marines pointless
Those weren't the Marines, those were World Government Ships.

- Drake switching sides literally was pointless and added nothing
- Yamato didn’t need to exist, the entire arc would’ve worked fine without her
Drake switching sides wasn't pointless, it was obvious that he was never on their side and that he would eventually betray them.

The problem with Drake is that he became a joke who really didn't do much other than defeat a Number and try to fight against Apoo and then CP0, at the end he ended up defeating no one and anytime he had some focus it was just him looking like a joke.

Agreed about Yamato, her character didn't need to exist and if Oda still wanted to have her character play a role in the Wano arc then he should not have had her character be obsessed with Oden.

Crocs entire character was so well done he legit didn’t need a backstory to be understood.

His schemes and monologues were insane, the way he destroyed the marines then spat on Tashigi even having a dream was legendary, and the brutality of his first victory over luffy is one of my favorite panels.

He set the stage better than any early villain in a manga could. Shame he had to lose from plot convenience, but odas redeeming that just fine.

I’m not saying the introduction of sword was pointless, it’s more of the fact that Drake changing sides didn’t do anything to actively push the plot along. He switched sides stalled and talked to apoo then got ran over by Yamato… if he took down who’s who or someone then sure it would’ve been fine but it really just felt like oda used drake to introduce sword then didn’t have any other plan for him for the rest of onigashima.

Won't be an exaggeration to say Crocodile's defeat acted as the catalyst for the entire series. It allowed Teach, Luffy's nemesis to raise to power, which subsequently led to Marineford and shaped the ending of part 1.

I always felt something mysterious about Arabasta in general, recent info about Nefertari being a D. pushes me more to believe that EoS events would mirror Arabasta in a way or another.

Oh it’s not. Crocodile is straight up one of the single most influential characters in the manga. He is responsible for the formation of two yonko crews since his defeat stirred teach into moving forward with his plans and his return brought forth cross guild. Hell, he was the one who introduced the readers to the entire ancient weapon plot.

Crocodile was the perfect villain for alabasta and if it wasn’t for his charisma and intimidating style there’s no way One Piece would be as popular as it is.

Remember when we were on year 4 out of 5 on Wano, people were constantly calling it shit (for reasons listed above) but Oda dickriders said it was too soon to criticize the arc? :suresure::suresure::suresure:

I will add my thoughts:

1. Too many POINTLESS characters given screentime
2. Kaido during onigashima was just someone just swatting at mosquitos but unable to kill any of them
3. Kaido backstory was shit
4. No tension
5. Big Meme did nothing

I don't know what went wrong but this arc was legendarily bad for me. Like almost as bad as 4th great ninja war

Crocodile is the goat One Piece villain in his arc. He's become overlooked as time went on.

Just read Moro arc from dbs , I tell you this is better than wano arc in term of writing , yes it has flaws but it is not bad as wano arc.

Here my list for worst thing oda has done

1. No ZKK
2. Zoro storyline gone
3. No ryuma flashback
4. oden the dancing guy
5. Kaido bleeding to like of kinemon, scream at law rocks, get hurt by Kidd wrestling move , etc. Imagine Moro or jiren bleed or get hurt by level of krillin. And people thought master Rossi pull ultra-instinct like on Jiren is bad enough By dragon ball fan standards.

6. Greenbull vs luffy should happen at wano.
7. What is even lurking legend for and who is it ?

"Actually, Marco shows up and kicks them out of the story"

4
"Kid and Law are awakened so Big Mom can't fight back anymore"

3
"I'm still writing this shit? Okay well Kaido doesn't block and they both fall in lava and die"

2
"These characters look too much like the hero right? Well fuck them. Zoro falls down, Yamato cock blocks herself, and Luffy is Ryuma."

1
"Fuck the Kurozumi for being born"

Those are just five, of course.
Lol I really felt your despair with the writing.

Biggest L is that it was 150 chapters and 4 fucking years long. Like dude, no excuse for that. Should have been no more than 50-60 chapters max.
For an arc that was 150 chapter, Oda didn’t reveal anything. His editors need to sit down with him and tell him this arc will be 60 chapters. What are you going to focus on? What do you want your characters to learn/accomplish? What lore can you share? The editors clearly let him go on and on until he gets burnt out.

Editors? Oda is like a Celestial Dragon - untouchable
