We care about the speed limit because Energy = mass times velocity/2. terminal velocity of a human body is roughly 53cm/s(192 km/h) at 450 meters. Falling from further height than that doesn't matter. Kaido is much bigger than a human being so drag would effect his fall less and his terminal velocity would be somewhat higher but I think you should get my point. The energy from his fall would be nowhere near what needs to cracks Marineford.
