that's the thing though. that level of discomfort doesn't just magically resolve with an ignore button, people would still (women in particular) wonder if he's having weird, sick thoughts especially if the person in question has been paying an ungodly and weird amount of attention to a straight up delusion

invest in better shoes and inserts

if you have the money for it (well, if you have the extra money) ask a podiatrist

for the particular type of shoe, hokas (i am gonna try to save for two pairs)
i had a nice conversation about them with a nurse at a hospital last month. he loved them for very long shifts or really anything in general and they offered great support
