So firstly, the decision to ban Beta permanently was one I took. And I've reaffirmed it all the way.
Next, power abuse is being misused here. Power abuse would be me editing posts to make them look in a certain way to give myself an advantage in the game, for example. Because I've been given the ability to edit posts and then used that ability that obviously isn’t what the intention behind that tool being used is. Being head of the section, or really, any global mod too, gives you the authority to ban users. The expectation is that this isn't abused, but the trust is that your judgement is sound enough to be given the right to ban users at your discretion.
What that means is that I can wake up one day and say "screw Ekko, I feel like banning him", but if I did so, there would understandably be a collapse in the trust within my judgement. So as long as I have a reason, I have the trust placed within me to make that call. Hence there is no abuse of power, it's the power being used within the scope of its intent. You don't have to agree with the reason. You don't even have to think it's valid. But as long as there is one, and in the case of Beta, there is, then it's above board. If the higher staff believed otherwise, they have the right to revoke it and remove me or Al or whomever from our position. Because the reason we hold these positions is that there is an expectation that we don't abuse it.
So what this is, isn't power abuse. It's a disagreement. Disagreements happen.
