If he wasn't then Kaido's screwed but he was. No reason for him not to and Kid highlighted that it was surprising that a punch hurt Kaido after Red Roc hit and he was in awe at G4's performance against Dragon Kaido and commented that the transformation was worth it since it did some damage. Even Big Mom was quite shocked watching Luffy punching around Dragon Kaido. I'd say he used it.

I think individuating ACoA, at least calculating its odds, can prove easily if the right patterns can be spotted. Such as the overall implications of an attack for example based off the previous knowledge on characters other than how ACoA is performed in itself.
Kaido dodging Red Hawk is sadly no firm indicator since Kaido went Hybrid probably by taking the fight more seriously in general and so it's no surprise if so he would dodge attack he firstly would not dodge, due the increased tension of the battle now that he does want to make sure not to underestimate them.
