I don't see how that qualifies him as flying? In the above panel he is in his Zoan form right before landing, turning into base as he lands.

We see King briefly turning into Zoan and back as he was pushed off of Onigashima's edge to fly back:

He literally just turned into Zoan for a second to fly back and turn back to base, which doesn't make sense if he can do it in base too.

Like Aokiji freezing the Tsunami and after that continuing creating and firing ice spears towards Whitebeard while still mid air, or Zoro launching towards King, cutting him down and remaining mid air while having a dialogue. One of many examples.

You will not find a single instance of King actually flying around in base like he does in his Zoan form.

So King being able to fly is likely

And even if he doesn’t outright flies he can somewhat flat to an extent : Zoro even commenting that his wings can move on their own and are fonctional

You have many instances of many characters being mid air. What does mid air even mean? We need to see King moving from A to B while in base and not flying around in his Zoan and turning into base mid air. That isn't flying.

Can you answer me why King, when being pushed/jumping off the edge of Onigashima in base, briefly turns into Zoan to fly back, only to then turn back into base and launch his magma Dragon? Turning into his Zoan served no purpose if King could actually fly in base.

So yeah it’s normal to think the man can fly. It’s clearly not your usual case of someone attacking in mid air and being frozen by the panel

And how you explain Zoro saying the man has wings that can move and are functional

And for what it’s worth the anime is using King flying around like a bird in base like there is no tomorrow. Would be hilarious if it was fake.

So at the very worse King can float a little with his wings but can only « fly » with Zoan.

We know his wings are working

It's even worse than that, his fucking Hybrid turns his arms into wings, can't even hold his sword or punch with these.
So useless we literally saw it for a single panel and then never again.

You could say he has ancient zoan regeneration and stamina but even Zoro healed faster than he did.

Again, freezing mid air in a manga with static panels doesn't equate flying, we see many characters doing that.

- Oden slashing Kaido who is far up in the skies
- Yamato freezing mid air while firing her ice beam against Kaido's Blast Breath
- Zoro jumping up and launching himself towards King mid air
- Aokiji freezing the Tsunami, remaining mid air, creating ice spears and launching them towards Whitebeard

Neither of those are examples of King "flying". Flying is him moving from Point A to Point B while mid air.

Should of had been a better dinosaur or an ancient zoan that would of aid his lunarian abilities better.
Like an ancient bear would of been cool. Speaking of the devil, I don't believe we ever saw a bear DF yet.

By far one of the most useless devil fruits in the series

King already has wings by default thanks to his Lunarian genes, so the Pteranodon wings are practically useless and he doesn’t need them to fly

His Lunarian fire has way more AP than the cringy lame beak attacks (confirmed by Zoro its like magma aka top tier offensive ability)

Plus his durability is already high due to the Lunarian flames, so the Ancient Zoan isn’t really helping here either

Not to mention how it looks ugly af

He was too strong to have a good DF(no hands in hybrid form ), if he had any of the Admiral fruits he would be unstoppable.

Seems it was just to complete the dinosaur theme since it becomes irrelevant later on in the fight with Zoro.
His supposed torture loving pervert trait was also discarded though, so the Zoan wasn’t the only frivolous thing.

To make him stronger like everyone else
Enhances his physical abilities, gives him better endurance and durability, and gives him unique/special attacks due to the animal it is

Only enhances his phyisical abilities when he’s in hybrid or beast mode, and King’s preferred mode is his base form

King really should've had a Mythical Zoan of some sort, though I guess Oda didn't want to do that because it was set him apart from the other YC1's, like they generally have a single gimmick that makes them strong; Marco - Phoenix, Katakuri - FS, King - Lunarian, so if King had two, it wouldn't really work.
