Chapter Discussion What did Kidd do to Oda?

#21
Kid fans when their magnet man bullies weaker pirates, terrorizes people and is generally speaking a scumbag to everybody else:

Kid is my GOAT! If they are weak enough to be bullied, they deserve no mercy! Who ever said Pirates are supposed to be nice and fair!

Kid fans when their magnet man gets his ass kickced and crew and ship sunk due to not being strong enough:

UNFAIR; why would god punish my poor baby boy like this?! Why did you not make Kid into Magneto/Luffys Whitebeard?!

My reaction:

Pray Oda hates your boy enough he stays dead and not enough he condemns him to be just another Monkey D Rider Cheerleader that beats some Vice Admiral as part of the Final War or whatever the fuck Kid would ever even do in the story from this point on.
At least Kidd can talk to girls unlike Imu who needs the Gorosei to do it for him lil bro
(anyway, all that stuff applies to Vegeta as well, yet he doesn't get shit on like Kidd)

what even is this series anymore?

Kid is Magneto if somebody beat Magneto so hard over the head he lost 90 IQ points.

"Uh, my goat has no plot armor unlike Luffy" good for you and Kid, will do him a whole lot of good at the bottom of Elbaphs coast.

You stan for a bully, who wasted his fruit and got his ass handed to him and turned into fish food to hype Shanks, don't glorify this clown.
Ironically you guys act like bullies, edgy and toxic too...

Just look at at you're saying here, do you lack this much self awareness?

I'm extremely guilty of moral grandstanding/soapboxing myself but it's very eye opening when someone does it to a character I love, humbling even Ironically.

I'll see you in therapy soon anyway. Maybe we can teach you about nuance and grey area characters too.

For your heresy, I curse you with faulty fridge magnets.

May the light of the Damned One's railgun free you from the darkness within your soul.

Extremely childish hyperbolic/strawman arguments are not the gotcha you think it is.

You just proved Kidd haters don't even pay attention and are blinded by sheer relentless bias.

Well done you. Have a gold star.

I'm gonna start a therapy group for you guys, I hope to see you there soon. I really think you need it and it will do you good. A lot of pent up rage there.

(And yes I know I'm being purposely ironic because I absolutely loathe Shanks now and some of his fans too.)
Couldn't expect less from Zoro fans lol. They love trash talk on Kidd and Law...

Kid vs Shanks was fanservice, and Shanks isn’t as strong as the fan base thinks he is.

He’s weaker than Kaido and his rival Big Mom struggled to put down Kid, while his rival Teach struggled to put down Law.

Shanks only one shot by making Kid’s attack rebound and if and when he sees Kid again, that feat won’t be replicated.

Oh and not to mention Shanks’s other rival Mihawk struggled to put down Vista.

Kid got caught offguard with a finisher that has Roger’s branding on top of it. It’s really not that serious, even Luffy would have dropped cold from that attack if he’s not prepared.

Shanks is stronger imo. His haki was legit compared to Joyboy. But BM has better dura than shanks.

Oda has gone to hate really masculine characters seemingly. Both law and Sanji got similar amounts of love by Oda and thus way extra story roles and development but Oda neglected Kidd and Zoro HARD. Oda even admitted he expected Kidd to be way more popular and planned him to bw far more important.

But also Kidd is based on William Kidd and yeah...that's your real answer tbh unfortunately:

Eustass Kid: A Fusion of Historical Piracy and Fantastical Rebellion, Contrasting Fortunes

Eustass Kid, a prominent figure in "One Piece," embodies a complex blend of historical inspiration and fantastical creation, primarily drawing from the 17th-century Scottish pirate, William Kidd, but with a stark contrast in their fortunes.

Core Inspirations:

* Shared Name and Scottish Origin:

* The direct "Kidd" in their names serves as the most obvious connection.

* Eiichiro Oda has confirmed that if Eustass Kid existed in the real world, he would be Scottish, mirroring William Kidd's origins. This establishes a deliberate link beyond mere name similarity.

* Rebellious and Anarchic Spirit:

* Both figures challenge established authority. William Kidd's actions, though initially commissioned, ultimately defied the crown.

* Eustass Kid embodies a proactive anarchic spirit, actively rebelling against powerful forces in his world.

* Aggressive and Ambitious Nature:

* William Kidd's reputation, whether factual or not, was marked by aggression.

* Eustass Kid mirrors this with his destructive powers and relentless pursuit of his ambitions.

Key Differences and Narrative Developments:

* Contrasting Fortunes:

* William Kidd's Unlucky Fate:

* William Kidd is often remembered as one of the "unluckiest" pirates. His story is marred by a series of misfortunes, including unruly crews, unsuccessful voyages, and political betrayals.

* He was ultimately convicted on dubious charges and suffered a brutal death, being hanged in 1701. This execution was a public spectacle, designed to serve as a warning.

* Eustass Kid's Resilient, though Hard-Hit, Journey:

* Eustass Kid, while facing significant setbacks, notably the crushing defeat by Shanks and the betrayals by Apoo and Hawkins, displays remarkable resilience.

* Though he has suffered great losses, his story is still ongoing, and he has shown a drive to continue forward.

* Experiences with Betrayal:

* William Kidd was a victim of systemic betrayal, orchestrated by political machinations.

* Eustass Kid experienced a direct and personal betrayal from within his alliance, adding a layer of complexity to his character.

* Violent Contexts:

* William Kidd operated in an era of maritime violence, but his downfall was primarily political.

* Eustass Kid exists in a world of superpowered conflict, where violence is on a grand, often devastating, scale.

* Narrative Purpose:

* William Kidd's story serves as a cautionary tale of political manipulation and tragic misfortune.

* Eustass Kid's story serves as a testament to resilience, ambition, and the challenges of navigating a world of immense power.
Updated Significance:

* The contrast between William Kidd's "unlucky" demise and Eustass Kid's resilient, though heavily challenged, journey highlights the different narrative purposes of their stories.

* The inclusion of William Kidd's brutal death adds a stark reminder of the harsh realities of piracy in his era.

* Eustass Kid is more than a historical echo; he is a dynamic character shaped by both inspiration and the unique demands of the "One Piece" narrative, where even devastating losses do not necessarily mean final defeat.
Midd is masculine with those nails. :gokulaugh:

The haki is to be expected. He has no DF or any sort of special body. It’s the only way he can compete with the others.

But I fail to see how he’s portrayed significantly stronger than any of the original yonko.
By feats Kaido looked superior to BM. Shanks will have better offensive stats , speed , haki and something like full DF negation with his haki imo. We already saw Joyboy's haki negating gorosei's hax and turning them back to human forms where as Luffy failed to hurt topman.

I think Oda changed a lot of his early plans for the immediate post skip arcs and Kid got lost in the wayside as a result.

Dressrosa and Green Bit were meant to be two separate arcs, PH originally was meant to be like a rubbish tip (good for Kid’s powers?) rather than fire and ice (which iirc, was also meant to be two separate arcs later on), Hawkins as a Warlord, then instead briefly teaming up for an alliance with Kid that, tbh, never really got used as a plot. Plus Law became so popular Oda had to use him more.

It might be the case that the Shanks plotline (which I don’t think has finished) was planned and the earlier stuff was thrown out.

Shanks really broke certain Kidd fans man lol this much crashout over a garbage fictional character they genuinely take offence to being slandered like they’re some minority being discriminated against in a work environment

Fuck your trash character lmfao he got what he deserved and he’s never returning cope

insulting the captain is worse then racism
