I think it was because he was originally backed by the government as a privateer but was one day deemed a pirate as he was believed to have stepped out of line, so it was a scandal for some of the people who backed him

Given that shanks literally just got cleared of all allegations yes shanks is 100% good.
The SHs are good so they get to fulfill their dreams and are rewarded for it.

I don't think Oda hates Kid, and if I'm being honest I think him getting obliterated by Shanks was fine for the narrative- it shows how much higher the story's stakes were getting and also showcased Shanks' power after a thousand chapters of very little onscreen feats. And it's super obvious that Kid will make a comeback.

The issue is with the agenda-driven fanbase who won't stop yapping about how much they hate Kid smdh

kid was likely originally planned to just be a small time rival figure who gets beaten by shanks, and the entire Wano plotline was improvised much like Law's character who wasnt intended to be important but became moreso over time

Had they let them sail away the red hair flag would've become worthless and all the territories and people it protects would be in danger from pirates who kill the innocent like Kid
