Now let me just preface this by saying I believe they are 100% dead and will not be coming back.....but what if im wrong? What if big mom and Kaido both survived the end of Wano what role will the play in the story going forward?

Big Mom- Let's start with big mom i believe if Big mom survived i could see 2 paths for her story line,

Path A- She'll be a major antagonist in Elbaf and there will be a major plot surrounding her and Gerd since they where once friends and either Big mom will be defeated once and for all on Elbaf or she'll help defend them from Nega-Shanks and they'll forgive him

Path B- she'll discover what the Blackbeard Pirates did on her island and attack Beehive in order to rescue pudding, imagine if Garp and Big mom was on Beehive at the same time, black beard pirates honestly may have gotten wiped out


Kaido- I think Kaido will become a very powerful ally of the strawhats for two reasons 1- Kaido respects strength above all else and Luffy beat him, I can see Kaido helping Luffy in the final war even if its only a little and Secondly both Kaido and King had heard about Joyboy before and even Kaido himself said it would probably take Joyboy to defeat him, Kaido would much rather help Luffy than to see the world government continue to rule the world

I believe that BM might use Kaidou to save herself, remember that Kaidou did say that pirates will betray each other. So I can see BM using soul pocus or something or just straight up use his body to float off the magma. We can explore that route or I can see Kaidou sacrificing himself to save BM as well, no betrayals. He does owe her his life and itโ€™s the perfect time to repay it.

This is a very likely option, as to what BM will do for the rest of the story? I donโ€™t fucking know. She might just revert to her O-lin mode so we donโ€™t have to worry about a loose top-tier in the final war.

Personally, I hope that they are both done for the remainder of the story. If they are both alive then things get really muddled.
For one Tottoland is still Big Mom's territory, and she should still be a Yonko over someone like Buggy and maybe even Luffy who has no real territory at this point in the story. If Big Mom is alive then she will still likely be chasing after Luffy which was already overkill in Wano and would just annoy fans and drag out for no real reason.

This is the only part that seems a little bit interesting about her resurfacing in the story. Her relationship with Gerd and possibly protecting her against the WG. But even this doesn't seem like it would fit well within the current story. She is not a redeemable character and this would essentially be a redemption moment for her character.

Oda makes Deaths Official when Bodies are Buried such as Izou & Ashura Doji or like Absalom & Carmel whose DF was taken ... etc
But when the Characters simply Disappear or are Abandoned, then They are most likely Alive,

Imo i believe They will return after Straw Hats finish their New World Journey (Dunno if it's before or after Final War/Arc),

East Blue started with Luffy/Zoro Defeating Morgan/Alvida
Paradise started with Luffy/Zoro Defeating Mr. 5/Miss Valentine
NW started with Luffy/Zoro Defeating Caesar/Monet
So Kaidou/Big Mom might return only to be used as Hype Tools for Luffy/Zoro, don't expect much

Linlin is coming back
She was never truly beaten. Think of her defeat like Katakuri's. A technical defeat not because she's weaker or got koed by the attacks but rather because the author just wanted her gone

She also didn't accept her defeat.

Kaido may still be alive since nobody die in this story

Big Mom will chase after Kidd and gets negged by collateral damage of Shanks' Kamusari on Kidd's Damned Punk.

If they are alive, they can be used only for one purpose - to be hypetools.
And Emperors simply haven't been treated in such a way so far, except the obvious Luffy and Blackbeard who are goofs.
Both of them have gotten plenty of screen time to show off all they are capable of.
Oda will not waste time on showing the same abilities again.

Even if they are alive , they will have much smaller roles. No idea about BM tbh. With Kaido he can join CG or go against WG.

BM is alive because her last words quite literally spell out that sheโ€™ll be back lol

If BM is alive it makes no sense for Kaido to be dead because despite how heartless BM sheโ€™s not going to leave Kaido there, specially since we learn sheโ€™s kind of fond of him
