What series are you watching ?

I'll give my two pieces about it. There was a time where directors and producers cared about a good film, or were targeting an audience, or were trying to come up with new ideas.
Now I have a feeling that agendas matter more and I don't mind political movies or agenda movies but it has to be subtle and have layers in it.
But nowadays they don't even care about stories, they just remake old movies or reboot a franchise. It's getting ridiculous.
Most of their movies don't make the nulbers they expect but they keep on doing the same shit over and over, like the opinions of the people who pay to watch the godamn movies don't matter at all. To them these people are either stupid, racist, are not the target (who is then if it doesn't work?).
Personally I haven't watched a movie in a theater since 2019. I watched them all illegally and I'm still disappointed (there are a few exceptions of course, very few though).

I would say so, yes, albeit she made the message more aggressive and her attitude lacked any charm, and she seemed unlikeable.
Though only from what I have seen, I ain´t following Disney movies, but her answers sometimes came up on shorts in my feed.
It was clearly the marketing strategy from the get-go to emphasize that the story has been updated to fit the current cultural landscape, including gender roles and so forth, every actor in the movie said the same thing.
In the end I think she is getting hung because the public forum is so heated, at one point it had to escalate, and she seemed like a suitable character as focus.
Not saying that she ain´t unlikeable but to put it all on a 22 year old who is just a product of her generation and who has a whole PR team behind her who are telling her what to say and who probably have a significant influence over her social media presence, I don´t think that´s fair.
Disney´s movie strategy and the way of dealing with criticism has been shitty for the last two decades, I think overall it´s a culmination of at least the last decade.

Frankly speaking, I don't get this Disney obsession with LA for every story they had, those timeless classics are classics for a reason.
Why redo something that only ends up enraging the fans?

I've finished the Residence btw.
Quite solid, I'd give it a 7/10.
If you liked Glass Onion (Knives out 2), Only Murders in the Building and Afterparty, if you like quirky detectives and a cast of co-workers who give off a "we're kinda acquired family" vibe, you'd probably like this one too.
I would place it higher, but it was dragged out a bit too much (could've easily wrapped in 5-6 episodes instead of 8), and the MC detective sometimes annoyed me as much as she did her "colleagues", but the cuts are great, the actors are doing a good job, the mystery around the murder is engaging even if you guess the murderer early on, there are still questions you can't help but ponder.
So it was enjoyable couple of evenings for me.
