Having a sword style automatically means you’re a swordsman
If one considers themselves a swordsman they’re a swordsman no matter how proficient they actually are

Yes mihawk has greater sword skill than shanks and shanks uses a sword. Same with Linlin
Doesn’t mean they’re swordsman unless they identify as swordsman or just have a sword style
Franky is not a swordsman despite being capable of using one

I think most can agree that weapons like spears, axes, naginatas, etc are not usually considered swords despite being blades weapons. Being meito or cursed shouldn’t change that


Hell we’ve even seen Kaido capable of cutting techniques with his kanabo and I think Yamato too. Doesn’t mean it’s a sword

At the same time all those weapons can be used as swords depending on the wielder

A scythe which isn’t a sword can be used as a sword as shown by zoro

Nekomamushi with his claws but obviously not all claws are swords

Legs obviously aren’t swords but Kaku still refers to them as so because of his tempest kicks. Even tho all of cp9 can also use the same technique. Similar to how all marines have trained in using swords but that doesn’t make all of them swordsmen

Question 2: When is a man a swordsman?
We already know that despite any weapon being capable of being used in swordsmanship it doesn’t mean the weapon itself is a sword aka above
The funny thing is tho it’s the same way even using a sword doesn’t automatically make you a swordsman


We know there’s a difference between using a sword/blade and being proficient in a sword style


King despite being knowledgeable on what it means to be a swordsman while even using a sword him doesn’t claim to be one due to not having a real swordsmanship style


Then we got someone like cabaji who he himself claimed to be a swordsman and even challenged zoro to a sword duel despite automatically breaking the deal

When someone considers themselves a swordsman regardless of how skilled they truly are they are still an obstacle in Zoro’s path he has to surpass. Cabaji despite being fodder is more or a swordsman than king because he actually claims to be one

Franky and pica despite using swords aren’t swordsmen like Brook and diamanté who actually consider themselves swordsmen

Most skilled swordsmen actually have sword styles tho
Like cavendish’s beautiful sword style

Hyogoros flower style

Etc


Like it or not that also leaves the door open for Linlin and Shanks to not be tied down to the swordman title

    • Ikoku and divine departure aren’t under one
  2. Have not claimed to be swordsmen
    • Just like king has shown you can have a sword duel despite not considering yourself a swordsman
  3. Not as important but both can likely fight without their swords especially if griffin also ends up being sentient

I think a Weapon becomes a Sword when it has a Bladed Edge and you can hold it in your hands.. So yeah Gaban's Axe, Whitebeard's Naginata, Kamazo's Scythes and Randolph's Spear are all Swords in One Piece..

The moment King agreed to a Sword Duel, doesn't that make him a Swordsman though?.. Given it was temporary..

Sword Style is an important point to discern the level of a Swordsman and their Swordsmanship, but i'd rather say it's the degree of dedication to the Blade, you don't need a specific Sword Style, although someone who dedicate their life to the Blade may invent their own Sword Style like Cavendish perhaps..

I think the example with Franky and Brook illustrate perfectly the disparity in Swordsmanship and Swordsmen, he '' picked '' up the sword only since post timeskip as an extra add on for General Franky.. Can you even claim that he's a Swordsman if he's not holding the blade himself and does it by proxy?..

I got no problem with Shanks being a Swordsman because it's within the bounds of a Swordsmanship duel for the World Strongest Swordsman and AdCoC is not a Swordsmanship skill.. In other words Shanks would nerf himself in a Sword Duel.. Unless.. He wouldn't respect the duel and fight with all his power, then Mihawk gets trashed..

Are you trying to say that primary reason you make threads against Mihawk is because some fans wank him over the top which you don't like?

  1. Joined the warlords to avoid being attacked by marines
  2. Joined crocodile and helped him with his utopia plan to avoid the marines
  3. Now hiding behind buggy’s shadow
  4. Is going to help buggy go for the one piece
  5. He like the rest of cross guild whether it’s the fodder, crocodile, soon to be Moria, and yes mihawk were all losers who gave up on the new world along with their original dreams of the one piece. It taking buggy to rejuvenate their spirits
    • At least crocodile had his utopia plan
    • At least Moria was trying to build up his crew’s strength
    • Mihawk didn’t do shit but chase fodder when bored
  6. Nobody seemed to know or even care about him in wano the land of swordsmen
  7. Marineford portrayal was ass and his portrayal in general is pretty bad compared to admirals and emperors
  8. For a man that loves a challenge and wants the smoke he seems to avoid it every chance he gets
  9. Biggest accomplishment is fighting a young shanks that fruitless Blackbeard scared. Moria and hanafuda were considers rivals to kaido back in the day
  10. Got bitched by vista and pre timeskip crocodile
  11. Hasn’t defeated a single notable marine or pirate we’ve heard of yet
  12. No one besides Zoro cares about his title him being generally extremely irrelevant himself

I respect the effort Albino chan but unless oda sends us a gift from god confirming Shanks uses haki bomb pistols or whatever then until then it's over. Mihawk, despite his trash performances and mid portrayal, is above Shanksu based on simple narrative :josad:

He could just deadass just punch or kick too lol. Was the main reason zoro started to figure out king wasn’t a swordsman was a simple punch to the face
