Oh dont do this. Half the Zoro band only wanted him to fight Kaido and it took him being sent back down for more people to get on board with it.
There were even some zoronies who thought he would just heal and go back up again.

I remember some guy arguing hard for Zoro vs Orochi and Sanji vs King, though, so arguing for Zoro vs King early during Onigashima was a thing. Zoro getting both the scarring (coupled with quite a few other good moments on Roof Piece) and the King fight was great. Oda going out of his way for Zoro.
That some people thought Zoro would be the one defeating Kaido is a different matter.
