Character Discussion Where does this idea that Law is the new gen Whitebeard come from?

Oda tried to rivalry gimmick between Luffy Law and Kid post-Wano and nobody took it seriously. In the arc where luffy became an ancient deity messiah with 3 advanced forms of haki, Law & Kid's biggest achievement was pushing BM down a hole. Now they don't even have pirate ships.

And just like Luffy, they fought Yonkous while Zoro needed ACoC with Lucci and still need to get past Old Gaban.
So despite they got defeated, they aren't out of the plot.
No idea but I think Katakuri is even more fitting of something like that as much as he’s not really a rival of Luffy but more so in terms of he’s an older guy, there’s mutual respect, hes the family man, he’s a conqueror, he has a yonko empire behind him and his soul desire is to protect that family, no interest in fame or treasure. I can easily see him being considered a big name pirate in the epilogue.
Law is more akin to being the new gen's Oden, as WB (as far as we know) never allied himself with Roger. However, there are mirror panels from chapters #585 and #966 hinting that the new Oden is actually Sabo, although I can't see any actual parallels (besides their power levels maybe).
Considering this, Ace is the closest to being the new gen's WB (he just died early, but he did want to follow his captain's dream).
In any case, the new gen pirates aren't a 100% parallel to the old legends, even if we can find many similarities.
