Controversial Which antagonist would yall say was in the right?

Me personally I'd say Both Magellan and Akainu they where simply doing their jobs, nothing more nothing less neither of them are pure evil or only interested in their own self interest. They both had a job to do and they did it to the best of their abilities
Lucci,Magellan,Akainu,Smoker,Kizaru and throw in Boa too because Luffy wasn't supposed to be in Amazon Lily.

Magellan is acceptable, he's a jailer, but Akainu? Akainu bombing civilian ships was just doing his job. Slaughtering people for possibly having read books is so right.

People like Smoker and Vivi, that don't end up being actual bossfights, are actually doing things for a good cause and are reasonable people, are in the right.
Akainu didnt do anything wrong in Marineford.

Akainu is the type of a guy to burn a whole island because of one bad guy. He isnt just doing his job, he is using his position to push his ridiculous brand of justice.

Aokiji, Fujitora were even used by the author to show it tbh.

Technically yes just took it to extremes

I didn't say anything that didn't literally happen in the manga. Is it justifiable?

Edit: you should really be careful with that topic, it's one step away from the "did nothing wrong". You can be selfless and still do plenty wrong, either for the wrong motivations or through the wrong means.

Impel down in itself is an abomination. The fact that exist is a mark on anyone involved. Akainu has also killed thousands of innocent people. I myself don't believe I'm right and wrong morality but willfull ignorance and torture is evil no matter how you spin it.

Most countries through story did way worse to deserters. Nothing wrong on killing coward traitors if you have the rightful authority to take this decision on the field.
Normally in modern society they'd have to be judged by a court martial, not outright executed on the spot. But regardless, there being real life examples of way worse doesn't make it into a right. Just like the Gorosei having the authority to enslave people doesn't make them in the right.

False equivalent. Akainu caught the people on the act and they even begged him to let them be traitors. He has the authority to take decisions on the field about the situation and decided on capital punishment. There's nothing wrong with that. The WG does not act like a modern country in any way, shape or form anyway. The fact of the matter is that even today most countries considered that deserters deserve to die. The fact that you don't like that Akainu has the decision power to do that don't change this fact. It's not immoral in any way.

But then Marines will slaughter said normal people if ordered to. So don't give them too much credit.
It's the same for every military.
