Rox's crew seems like a bunch of greedy thugs; Whitebeard doesn't fit in with them.

Why did Oda put him in that crew?

Why is Whitebeard with them?

I believe Whitebeard tag along with him just to get a lot of treasure to support his hometown Sphinx Island. They were struggling to pay Heavenly Tribute to get a protection before Whitebeard Went to the sea. He is Arrogant but he pretty much a good decent dude.

This was pre prime WB, irrc this was around the time Brook was a pirate and he said Roger was a rookie too

it could’ve very well been the Newgate we saw in his pre death flashback, we know he wasn’t a captain in that flashback. Rocks probably saw his potential and asked for him

Kinda wish he wasn't part of Rocks' crew, it sort of dehypes him a bit.

Then again I guess him growing out of the shadow of Rocks and becoming Roger's equal is just as impressive.

Maybe that was the only way he found to leave Sphinx? WB, just like his hometown, seemed to be piss-poor, so he might've accepted the invite of the first pirate ship that went to visit that dump.

Kaido was also a soldier to a no name commander and a subordinate to a no name king in Vodka Kingdom. That was his only choice, considering the circumstances.

I agree that he doesn't fit in with the Rocks Pirates and it doesn't matter how he joined.

It’s a great thing he was part of Xebec crew

Yeah he doesn’t fit at all with all those ruffians and ragtags yet he followed Rocks. Maybe because he hated the WG too, maybe for the treasures, maybe because Rocks charisma etc etc

It makes WB more human, he wasn’t always in « good » crews, wasn’t following honorable people yet after all this he changed his life and went to fulfill his dream and built his family

Couldn’t care less about stupid and « perfect » Roger

At least WB has soul

Even the fact that he grew old, sick and died was awesome. A real life, with the good and the bad, the heights and the lows

We don't know how whitebeard was back in the Rocks days, he might of been just as vicious as Rocks
