Oda just can’t write serious rivals for Luffy. When he does write a serious rival, the rival dies. Case and point Zoro and Kuina. Most of the time he writes gag rivarly.

Kidd is Luffy’s rival. Blackbeard is his arch nemesis. Move on. Their relationship dynamic, their parallels, and the fact that they have the same ambition all put together makes it very obvious. Characters in the show have already called Luffy and Kidd rivals. Queen even says to Luffy in Udon something like, “Why do you want to save him? Is it because you’re rivals battling it out in the same generation?”

explain one reason he actually has, for real, to hate blackbeard or consider him an archnemesis.

blackbeard is right when he says its just fate. he never WANTED to get Ace killed, he wanted him to join his crew! But after he refused, he was just the most convenient guy to capture and turn in. Blackbeard has been an asshole constantly but he's not like, looking to specifically destroy luffy or anything, and i don't know if Luffy hates him as much as he hates Akainu. They're not archenemies, they're natural opposites.
