Did anyone ask mihawk or officer him the position on emperor off screen?

People act as if mihawk wanted to be seen as the emperor of the group he just would have but if i remember correctly nobody aked him

In reality

1. Mihawk and crocodile are equal leaders of cross guild neither being above the other in control of the group
2. Buggy misinformation is pretty much the main reason cross guild is seen as a emperor level threat in the first place. Remove buggy or have the world government find out the truth thats no longer the case
   • The world government believe buggy to be this super smart, cunning, and strong dude powerful enough to have mihawk and crocodile under his command. In reality obviously not true but if still plays a massive role in the perception of cross guild as a whole

You are reading the manga wrong. Its Oda clarifying to the readers why Mihawk didnt become the yonko from cross guild. He knows full well that readers would expect the WSS and Shanks' former rival to be the only person qualified to become a yonko from that crew.

Mihawk verbally spit on the Yonkou title (basically confirming he could have it but it's irrelevant to him), and then proceeded to receive a bounty over his own Yonkou Captain Buggy, Yonkou Teach, and Yonkou Luffy, despite being an underling.

Oda went so far out of his way to put the Yonkou status beneath Mihawk it's almost funny.

With Kuzan he had him walk in on an entire Yonkou crew by himself and insinuate that Kuzan could potentially solo everyone there including Teach.

I get what Oda was doing, in both cases he was making sure Mihawk and Kuzan's portrayal is unblemished in the situation. However in order to do so he actively embarrassed the Yonkou and their status in a way (which might have been necessary to get the point across).

Buggy’s face is in the middle of the flyer so they assume he’s the leader. Nobody asks you to become a Yonko. Mihawk literally says he can dispose of him if need be implying he can take over the crew and become a Yonko whenever he wants but he’s simply not interested.

Take Mihawk out the crew and they’re no different than Doffy’s family
