This is something thats been bugging me for a while,

This is whitebeard.


As you can see he has a scar across his chest,
because of this line i always thought it was roger who did that,

The wound i got from that guy aches when i look at your face
(note now he could actually be talking about roger for other wounds but it CANNOT be that one across his chest)

on to wb and roger

After the fight

NO SCAR ON WB
and after rogers journey just before he died iirc even after roger left his crew they met one final time

WHILST IT IS OBSCURED IT SEEMS ITS NOT THERE EVEN THEN

So the question is WHO CUT WB ?

The natural choice would be Roger but you explained very well it can not be him.

Another possible one could be BB. Shanks face -> the scar BB made -> WB thinks about BB. Maybe that happened when BB left WB yet it doesn't make much sense cayse powerwuse it would be difficult and above that we know that the only cutting weapon BB was ever shown using gives a 3 scar wounds (see Shanks face).

An option which would be a monumental foreshadowing would be Xebec. Shanks face reminds WB of his father Xebec and so the wound. Too bad Xebec died before we even have the panels of WB without his scar.

Mihawk as well would make almost no sense. Shanks face -> Shanks rival Mihawk -> his wound aches. Yet Mihawk has no beef with WB in the contrary considers him strongr and wants to test the distance between them.

Lastly.. Kaido uses a club and has no close connections with Shanks, BM coyld match for the sword yet it stops there. Shiki is the same as BM, no known close relations to Shanks.

So imo or Oda screwed with the panels or we have BB as closest one but still makes almost no sense. Making this a foreshadowing for Shanks - Xebec blood relation would have been godly but evidently it is not the case.

But how Crocodile relates to Shanks?

So far it could be:
-Roger, Shanks captain. But WB actually doesn't hold any grudge with him, so we can discard him
-Xebec, if he's Shanks father

It could be also possible that Oda forgot this dialogue

This is exactly what was bugging me it points to roger but it cant be him

There is another possible explanation which comes to mind.

It is actually BB cause the wound which aches it is not a physical wound but a very recent psycological one. Indeed it makes sense that WB is still wounded that somebody who he believed to be one of "his sons" killed one of his brothers and escaped a short time before that (weeks - months in OP time) amd also that situation was of course the foundation of what soon after the meeting with Shanks becomes the Marineford war. Now he sees the physical scar BB made in Shanks face with the weapon he has used for decades under WB and of course BB comes to mind.
