Ruling as king is no different than kings that rule over certain islands or even pirates like Doflamingo or even Big Mom who like Kaido ruled over Totto land.

But Kaido failed in his dream of changing the world and causing greatest war of all time against world government , he also wanted to claim one piece with Big Mom and failed . Guys like Roger and Rayleigh actually fulfilled their dream, they managed to do something Kaido and Big Mom wanted but failed, they conquered grand line and found one piece which is to this day the greatest feat and dream of many pirates.

Big Mom has a mental breakdown whenever she doesn't get the food she wants or she just sees a specific photo fall. That is NOT a sign of mentally healthy individual. You are tripping if you think hedonistic lifestyle will make a person happy when they still didn't work out their trauma from childhood.

When BM built an entire country which she rules and her children manage, is able to eat whatever she wants and claim sweets from her various territories, have tea parties with the most powerful folks, no Marines ever daring to go near her home turf

Yes I think all those things made her very happy. Is Jeff Bezos unhappy cuz his wife divorced him for half his money and his dream to go to space a pipe dream despite creating a SpaceX sham? The exact reason why she failed in becoming a PK is cuz she got too complacent with her life. I would take BM's retirement over Rayleigh retirement of selling himself to slavery or Roger hitting and quitting a chick only for both her and their child to die needlessly.

Roger's will was passed on to the world, his death and that of his son, changed many people's life and will ultimately lead to revolution that will overthrow current world order. Big Mom meanwhile, died a loser after not being able to achieve her goal for decades and being stuck as a silver medalist, literally BITCHING to Roger himself as she was falling to her death, that he fucked them over.

BM didn't win the Pirate King race, but she certainly won the life race. Mother Carmel babied her, Streusen took care of her, Rocks crew gave her a daycare center for her kids, her kids manage her empire for her while she eats whatever she wants.
