A sniper is literally a specialised combatant. lol. Zoro and Usopp are both combatants. Thing is Zoro can function as the captain at times too while Usopp is a useless bum that does nothing. Not to mention Zoro is astronomically stronger. Zoro is far more useful.

Usopp’s “ bonding the crew “ has no weight on it .
And thats a funny take considering what happened in water seven but thats another issue .

Sniper is a combatant role , u are literally trynna do the same thing with zoro .
A sniper doesnt include usopp’s character “ qualities “ .
Zoro fulfils his role pretty well considering he keeps fighting behemoths from other organisations .

As for me, Zoro has the most monkey shounen role, unless you use the social and hierarchic argument of the "first mate", which is a tangential topic.

Usopp brought us their first ship, he can negotiate, he is a sniper as a combat role, but he is also a JOAT generally speaking on the ship.

While Zoro lifting weights, Usopp would most likely go to a ship canon, clean it and prepare fuel and ammunition for the weapons.

How much does zoro follow his role as a combatant , what has he done to prove his worth ?
example for this - beating the main villain’s top subordinate during their arc like king , mr 1 , kaku , pica etc .
And even outside of that , he has fought multiple strong individuals
- kaido and bigmom , lucci , s-hawk , venusjuro, gyabban etc.
