“Tap tap” is not the sound of a foot on grass, first of all. Tap is the sound a sword blade makes when it goes through a thin layer of grass into a solid root.

After doing the work editing raws for it to read, ChatGPT confirms this is the sound effect “za shu za shu” which refers to a slicing sound as well as the “tap” sound of a sheath being opened. Tap is a fine translation.

Since Roger died, Rayleigh has went from having a tidy haircut and neat goatee to long flowing locks and a huge beard.

Why would Gaban look the exact same when Ray doesn’t?

It's also likely that that person is someone who might have some knowledge about Shanks' family.
And one of the reason Shanks comes to Elbaf every once in a while is to visit a former crewmate.
So Gaban is a bigger possibility than Shiki who had a movie for himself already in which he was defeated by pre TS Luffy.

As for the red herring argument, literally the only reason anyone thinks it is Shiki is because of the clothing. You not think that’s the red herring, and the reason he’s not walking around with two giant axes is because it would really obvious then who he was and we wouldn’t have talked about it for decades?
