Since Roger died, Rayleigh has went from having a tidy haircut and neat goatee to long flowing locks and a huge beard.

He’s also started wearing a long hooded cloak that he never had as a youth, dropped the boots for some sandals and got rid of the sword he fought with.

Why would Gaban look the exact same when Ray doesn’t?

The narration makes it clear that it is someone that Shanks considers family. 5e narration also all but says that person is a Roger Pirate, because they were Shanks’ family.

I don't want Kasa hat to be gaban because even in his old age he will stronger than the average bunch.


Shamrock will just call another person to subjugate the giants and do goverment's bidding,but even if they agree at first at the end they will oppose it and we will have like at least 4 Elbaf residents above high tier + SH vs 3 CDs...

Gaban is not there for the combat.
It's pretty clear after the last chapter he's there to give Shanks lore.

Why, when Rayleigh exists, are we being offered information that Rayleigh had? He spent a year with Luffy and never answered a question about Shanks?
Shanks is obviously going to have his own arc and can explain himself.
Shiki is here to give Rocks lore and world history lore if he is there to give lore at all. Thinking Gaban would show up and not fight is a 🤡 take

I still think there’s no need for the… sixth modern day Roger Pirate to say how Luffy is the person Roger is waiting for, is just like him and to give a helping hand to.

I stand by the only actually interesting use for Gaban would be if he was on Blackbeard’s side and other than that he’s just lesser Rayleigh.

But the guy is clearly him.

We had WB tell BB to his face on live TV that BB is not the man Roger is waiting for.

Gaban was the one who found baby Shanks in the chest. Makes sense that he would be the one to reveal Shanks lore

Not much point arguing over an incorrect theory from years ago (I’m talking Dressrosa/Zou), but the idea was that Gaban “came to a different conclusion” from the rest of the Roger Pirates, to use Ray’s words.

And like Chinjao, he saw in Blackbeard the potential to be the one to be PK.

It would be a fallacy to assume just because Whitebeard thinks Blackbeard isn’t the one, everyone else had to. Gaban could have some shit happen to him to cause him to breakdown. Maybe he couldn’t take Roger being executed and thought Blackbeard’s destroy it all approach was the right approach.

I would have found the idea of a Roger Pirate who didn’t come to the same conclusion as everyone else and become a Luffy supporter far more interesting. And he could have been the Tenth Blackbeard commander and been Sanji’s Blackbeard fight.

Obviously the idea died when Gaban was shown laughing at Laugh Tale with the rest, but I stand by Evil Gaban being an actually interesting character. Wise Old Mentor Gaban, considering Rayleigh has already done that role and is more important, not so much.

As it is, the only Roger Pirate whose going to bring anything at all different is Buggy lmao, who at least hates Luffy, albeit comedically.

Gaban is under Zoro, Sanji, and Jinbei at best. Rayleigh openly admitted he couldn’t beat Blackbeard, old Gaban is weaker than him.

Prime Gaban is current Zoro’s level, maybe Sanji level if he was truly 3rd mate/chef
