Character Discussion Why aren’t One Piece villains as iconic and memorable as Naruto/DBZ villains?

I’d add Sukuna to that list. JJK is even bigger in the West than OP is at this point, and Sukuna is like the #2 reason for that (#1 being Gojo ofc)
I hear you, but I personally don't think "iconic" means how many people simply know/recognize the villain. That's what I would call "memorable", which I explained in my first post.

So an example: While Sukuna is probably more "memorable" in the west compared to Griffith (due to the manga/anime audience being way younger in the west), the latter is easily more "iconic" imho.

I guess that is due to multiple factors. One Piece Characters have more depth than Dragonball characters and villains. In fact, DB characters have no depth at all, the series itself revolved around strong guys wanting to fight, conquer and bust planets. It's just that at the time, Dragonball was a very iconic anime which inspired future animes. It was simple but powerful, creating an identity around being a warrior. That's all.

Back in the day, One Piece was also pretty iconic. It's just that being a series that is going on for so long, it obviously fades at some point.

You didn't answer the question bitch ass clown, how do they know Frieza? LMAO.

The chances of them knowing Blackbeard is higher.
Come on, don't be a clown now ...

If you ask 100 random people on the streets in any western country, you can bet your ass that WAY more people recognize/know Frieza.

You know that, too.

It's not a knock on One Piece or Blackbeard as character, it's just reality.

What about Kira (from Death Note)? I’d argue he’s more iconic than Johan

You don't answer the question as well clown :suresure: How exactly people who don't watch anime know about Frieza? Never heard that retarded statement before LMAO.

Lmao no it isn’t. Anyways, I don’t see the point in arguing with someone who thinks Kaido is better written than Jiren or Moria is cooler than Sasori
Still running away like a bitch? Try to explain how exactly they know about Frieza you moron.

EVERYONE IN THE WORLD has practically watched or heard of DBZ, Naruto, Pokemon, Saint Seiya , City Hunter & Sailor Moon
Also Bleach and OP are there

Yet One Piece villains aren't just that iconic despite the so called "depth " arguments

You can make a well written villain that the world can always remember
Oda just cant do it

This Johan whatever isn't that iconic. He's not an iconic Villain like Frieza, Pain, Aizen, ... are
I've only seen some users here praise him

Same way many people who don’t follow anime know who Goku and Naruto are, you 🤡
You just proved you are a retarded cry baby as usual, comparing MC with one of the villains, Frieza is just one of the villains, not the always Final Villain, its not even close.:suresure:
Blackbeard is as iconic as a toilet paper
:suresure:
More iconic than Luffy's little underling sword licker, which makes you cry. :suresure:

TheAncientCenturion

I will never forgive Oda

OP is effectively the first few arcs of Dragonball, tonally, dragged out across the entire series. How many iconic villains did DB have? Two, maybe three depending if you liked General Blue.

So it's not that surprising. Oda's tone is more light hearted, his world is geared towards random adventure and goofiness. It's fine for what it is but that does hurt the antagonists. I think Buggy the Clown remains the most ubiquitous villain to those who are only tangentially aware of the series. I'd say Crocodile but tbh I think people only got on the hype train for him when he returned.
