Chapter Discussion Why did VP ask the strawhats to save him if he planned to die?

I‘m confused about the timeline of his memory wipe and need to reread the arc to try and make sense, because i can’t wok it.
He’s meant to have recorded the tape two days ago, wiped his memory and woke up when shit has kicked off and the island has been attacked.
So he must have wiped his memory during the arc, after he asked Luffy to take him away?
I don’t know if Oda’s trying to go for he always just meant a satellite since they are all Vegapunk, but I’m sure I remember Stella packing a bag.

=> Figures out there's a traitor ready to sell/kill them
=> even before the memory wipe he knows his death will cause a uproar.
=> Sets plan in motion. (He already knows he will die)

=> See government approaching for unknown reason , Speculates "again" it might be due to Ancient History , ask SH to save him
=> traitors is unknown.
=> Pythagoras and Shaka are taken out.
=> Vegapunk think of point number 2.
=> all vegapunk is still unaware of Plan and how this all started , neither do they know about recording. They only know vegapunk did it somehow no clue on when or how because Memory is wiped out.
