Chapter Discussion Why did VP ask the strawhats to save him if he planned to die?

#21
=> Start researching Ancient History
=> Government start sending CP0
=> Figures out there's a traitor ready to sell/kill them
=> even before the memory wipe he knows his death will cause a uproar.
=> Sets plan in motion. (He already knows he will die)
=> Wipes the Memory
=> See government approaching for unknown reason , Speculates "again" it might be due to Ancient History , ask SH to save him
=> traitors is unknown.
=> Pythagoras and Shaka are taken out.
=> Vegapunk think of point number 2.
=> all vegapunk is still unaware of Plan and how this all started , neither do they know about recording. They only know vegapunk did it somehow no clue on when or how because Memory is wiped out.
This arc had tons of retcons and CIS/PIS. Just for starters, the seraphim control (can elaborate in case you forgot).

Why are you surprised by Loda's writing at this point lol?
Egghead is legitimately worse than Wano.
The writing seems to just be getting worse. I’ve never been to the point where I wanted Oda to just get to the end but now I’m pretty much there lol. You’ll have to remind me of what happened with the Seraphim.

Alright, let me try and paint it to you what I THINK Oda attempted:

1- Lilith first introduces herself as the Vegapunk, not as Lilith. As if the two identities coexist. She's Lilith, but she's also Vegapunk.
2- the reason it differs from cases like Stussy/Mrs Bakkin, is that the Vegapunks are all connected to each other. For example, York was the Vegapunk responsible for eating and taking a dump (reason why Lilith in the last chapter said she started feeling hungry because she must have lost her connecting to York). So the Vegapunks are, in a sense, pieces of the same being. Think Voldemort and his Horcruxes.
3- For the plan to happen, only STELLA had to die. Vegapunk asked for passage for ALL of the satellites (at the time he didnt know York was the traitor because the memory was erased so York wouldn't figure out they know about her betrayal). Which means, he wanted to save the "identity" of Vegapunk through his satellites.
4- Since all of them share the same knowledge because of their connection and the big ass elder brain back in Egghead, it doesn't matter if all satellites or just 1 lives. As long as any do, "Vegapunk" lives on through them.

Yeah it’s just weird because they are each their own unique and distinct shades of Vegapunk, who himself acts differently than the rest. So in a way Vegapunk lives on, but all those who died in Egghead are gone.

My interpretation is that he straight up didn't want to follow through with what the message he wrote told him to do. He was quite simply scared of dying at first and saw the SHs' arrival as a way to possibly escape. Took him some time to come to terms with it and trust in his pre-memory wipe self.

Of course, this only makes the decision to erase his memory in the first place seem even more stupid. Only thing it achieved was leaving himself confused and undecided when he was already strongly commited to his "plan" beforehand. All of that for no actual benefit since he could have just broadcasted his message immediately, well before WG forces made their way on site, and significantly reduced the chances of it being interrupted that way on top of avoiding the horrible situation he put Sentomaru and Stussy in.

Dumb plot all in all...
