Why did you decide to sign up for Worstgen?

Did you check narutoforums too? It’s pretty chill, I use WG and nf, they both have their good sides. @Natalija is on there too.
I did a few weeks back, not really my scene. WG honestly is the one place I wanna be, the idea of starting over and ingratiating myself to a new band of wacky strangers is exhausting in itself. I don’t want to do that unless this site shuts down (WHICH IT NEVER WILL)

I just went there for the first time...doesn’t look bad, but this is the superior forum, if only because it’s the one *I’ve* chosen as my new OP home :kizabat:
My thoughts exactly.

I said promote WG, not other forums :attachpol:

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the whole manga/anime community is on NF, everyone here and their dogs.

Been a OJ user since 2015 then the site shut down some time ago like everybody knows. Somebody told me about WG a littpe before the shut down, guess it was Arara? I remember that user did a lot of promotion to a lot of people (before getting banned by the mods? Lol).

Then a little pause after OJ closed, decided it was worth to see if there was another good One piecw forum somewhere, looked what the mods on OJ sponsorized (I think it was a subforum of a Naruto forum, unaccpetable) but I didn't like the format and didn't seem to have much discussion/people. Instead WG was way more active and also the format is inspired to the one OJ had, so here I am.

Also I have to say that by this point the main reason I'm still on an international OP forum is to exercize my english, you know, use it or lose it. And of course using it to talk about something you like is probably the best way to do it.

And at this point I should go look for my old avi since some months have passed since I have joined lol.

You speak English EXTREMELY well; honestly, all you non-native speakers are very proficient in the language. It’s rare that I have to reread anyone’s posts to understand what they’re saying, y’all are a lot more fluent/easier to comprehend than you may think. Also, y’all damn sure understand more of my language than I do of yours...

Yup, @Arara was the one who told me about Worstgen Forums, best advice ever since i didn't have to go looking for a new home like a lost puppy.

I remember when I first heard the acronym “WG”
My mind immediately thought it stood for World Government and I searched everywhere for some a “World Government OP forum” and gave up after the fifth political discussion site I found
:shame:
Oh God, that sounds like a nightmare...it’s bad enough when radical assholes like me start spouting off about politics on a forum for Japanese cartoons, but a place dedicated exclusively to that kind of monumental futility must be miserable. I’d guess sites like that are filled to the brim with keyboard warriors who think the Econ class they took online through a local community college makes them qualified to comment on Brexit or whatever the fuck is going on in North Korea.

Can anyone answer why the OJ mods were so insistent on stifling any word about WG the last few weeks it was operational? I wasn’t embroiled enough in the politics of that place to be in the loop.
OJ wanted to promote TB as their successor but Bogard created WG at around the same time. They probably didn't like it and started targeting Bogard saying that he was stealing their work(whatever it means).

Was skeptical of joining at first, i wanted to retire from forums after OJ shut down. It's a bunch of peeps who pestered me to join so i did.

I've met some new cool users, which has been the best part of being here, but otherwise it's meh lol, it's not much different from the discord server to me. Not much wrong with how it's handled by the staff and all, i'm just not cut out for this shit anymore.

Well, they clearly backed the wrong horse...I just went to TB for the first and almost certainly last time, they’ve barely got a third of the registered users we have here.

Thank you, well I guess it is good enough to make myself understandable. A good thing is also that this way, writing and reading about stuff you like on an english/international forum, you learn new words and also figures of speech / slang that exist in the english language but not in your own (now not a single example comes to mind but.. Trump as "the orange man" or, this is from the chinese "throw eggs to a rock" to say something futile). The problem is that the forums, this forum, is really good to exercise your reading and writing but of course it does nothing for your speaking or audio comprension. I try to use youtube for that (or better by this point this is an excuse to use youtube lol).

Anyway another good side of it is that with just my native language (italian) I would get a tenth of what I can get thanks to the english language. Just for OP early spoilers, a community almost 10 times bigger than the people I would found on italian forums (even because a lot of people, even if not from english speaking countries, have english as their 2nd lamguage and floks here just like me), same goes for youtube or every other stuff youay need online. Good manuals etc.

In a way you are fortunate and unfortunate imo, you learn from the start the worldwide language so you have by default the key to comprhend the basics of everything posted on the net and speak with billions of people (then a lot of countries teach it in the schools but, at least here in Italy, that really never works and people ends up losing it in the end, if they don't use/need it)(with italian you will have a "key" just to talk to 60M people in a 7B people world, better go for mandarin or spanish if you already speak english I guess :p) on the other hand it is pretty funny to have a 2nd language but it has to be usefull otherwise there is no meaning in keeping it and it is way more difficult (use it or lose it). I remember when back in high school I had to learn latin, it was nice since it was the language of ancient history and I liked that side (Caesar leaving his reports about the gallic conquests etc.) but on thw other hand I couldn't be bothered to learn something so useless, the teacher promoted it by saying it was good for learning comprhension and schemes but that wasn't enough to change my 4-5/10 grades lol.

First of all, “throwing eggs at a rock” instantly becomes one of my favorite colloquialisms of all time, thank you for bringing it to my attention 😤🍳

Second, I definitely try not to take for granted the fact that I was born into speaking English...it’s another condemnation of presumptive American exceptionalism that we expect the rest of the world to learn OUR language so as to avoid confusion instead of the other way around, although I guess that’s more the fault of England from a few centuries before this country was ever stolen from Native Americans.

Third, I think I often flex my vocabulary here for two reasons - that’s just the way I talk/think in real life, and I’m always hoping to show y’all new words in your second language that you may not have heard before, I get to feel in the smallest way that I’m bridging the gap so I can connect to the people I like here a little better. I have retained only the basics of high school Spanish, which helped me barely keep up with a conversation @Sunita and @Fallen Prince had a few weeks back, so I know I can do more myself to communicate with y’all...but I also wanna recognize your efforts and those of many others on this site, and tell you that your English already sounds pretty natural, so you’re doing a killer job of learning it!!

True, I guess I have a different view on it and a lot of WG members are on it. Also I looove their ratings system tbh.
