Character Discussion Why do people hate Katakuri?

I didn't realize he was hated, i thought ppl just made fun of him whenever Ndule wank/downplay towards certain characters goes beyond the daily limit. Can't see how a man who stepped up for his sis Brule(lovely flashback
) and stayed true to his 1v1 against Luffy can be hated. I don't get this hating a character because some people overwanked. You like em because you like em, hate em because you hate em

Extremely overrated.
Itachi syndrome type of character. I can't take him seriously. Just like Itachi fans believe he can take on and beat Madara, Katakuri wankers believe his 113 healing punches and zero dc is giving trouble to his peers and top tiers lol.

I think a man who loves his family and is honorable would appeal to most would he not?
Huh? He wanted to kill Luffy to get rid of a threat, tried to do so all the fight but he grew to respect Luffy as a fighter. Those two things arent mutually exclusive.

It’s because Zoros character is consistent with the honor and his Fights are about him proving himself.
Katakuris character was really all over the place:
1. Cool Katakuri - Didn’t care about the fight just was going to annihilate luffy, not even let him transform. Would’ve been great if kata retained this type of character but for some reason randomly went to fanboy luffy Katakuri because “reasons.” Which had him do something completely out of character and nerf himself and make him an idiot to give luffy a chance.
2. Family man Katakuri - Apparently wants to be the perfect big brother protecting his siblings, however, he repeatedly showed inaction when they were in danger. First with big mom, then luffy continuously kidnapped brulee right in front of him and began liking luffy despite luffy personally beating up and hurting katas siblings, then personally traumatizing another one of his sisters cause she insulted him.

Katakuri gets shat on for "betraying" his "mother" who kills his own siblings whenever she has a tantrum? She is a tyrant and does more harm to their kingdom than good. Plus, Katakuri never intented to betray Big Mom, he merely has an honor code which is not bad at all. He wanted to kill Luffy but couldn't and lost. The chefs were killed because Katakuri wanted to hide his secret as much as possible to protect his siblings, even if he had to kill innocent people. On the one hand, people criticize his honorable way of fighting but if he mercilessly kills people, it's also wrong.
Yeah I don't like Katakuri. Hate is too strong of a word tho, I don't hate any character lol.
Ever since the moment I read WCI I've never been a fan. I consider WCI to be one of the worst arcs, and Katakuri who spearheads it is also one of the worst characters for me. I don't find anything appealing or interesting on him. Legit nothing lol. He's contradictory. Supposedly wants to protect his family yet knocks out his younger sister and leaves her in the mirror world that came crashing during his fight with Luffy. Let's Luffy walk away, which would mean he'd have to engage other siblings of his to escape thus putting his other siblings in danger. Luffy is also the reason Big Mom went nuts on the island which threatened literally everyone, including her family, which is the reason that guy I forgot his name even died(?) after Linlin removed his lifespan. Katakuri is fine with Luffy taking out Linlin, which would put his family in even worse danger cuz who would protect them then lol? Katakuri? Against entire rampaging Yonko and their crews? Yeah no. Katakuri knows how strong and dangerous Luffy can be
but still chooses to play around and toy with him. And him abiding by some honour code is also frivolous when it was Luffy that broke that first. Katakuri needn't have stabbed himself to even the play field, when it was Luffy that 'cheated' first by running away and taking and attacking Katakuri's sister. That's basically the gist of it.
I typically don't let the amount of the retardness of a character's fanbase affect my enjoyment and liking of a character. If I did, I would never have been a Shanks fan in OP, he's in my top 3, or a Sukuna fan in JJK lol, he's my top 2. Do I troll Kat's fans at times? Absolutely. However, I don't downplay Katakuri. On more occasions than I can remember I've defended him in battle threads.
