Powers & Abilities Why doesn’t Luffy use gear stacking instead of G4?

#2
Because G4 is gear stacking, but with extra perks (it is tankier, seems to be even faster than G2 and even stronger than G3, plus ability to emphasise certain facets e.g. boundman and snakeman)

it's stronger than G3 and G2 together

Plus, it has less drawbacks - it drains Luffys Haki and stamina to use G4, but gear stacking nearly killed him in TB. You probably forgot this permutation because Kuma essentially healed him.

That was only because G2 and G3 had a lot of drawbacks Pre-TS. He got rid of those drawbacks

If I remember correctly he only removed the drawback to g2 by limiting it to whatever limbs he is using at the time, and I'm not sure he can do that while using g3 yet considering that his control still isn't very good.

It something Oda never brought up again like he forgot and just wanted to introduce G4 as a Wow factor..

Because didnt Doffy say your g2 moves may be fast but they dont hurt as much. Then talk about g3 being too slow?

That was the opportunity for Oda to reintroduce stacking gears for Luffy, so he can kick Doffy ass.

Except Gear 2 was still too slow and only worked right after Gamma Knife. He needed Law to land Red Hawk or Hawk Gatling.

And Gear 3 was shit compared to Doffy's devil fruit

Boundman >>> Gear 2 speed & Gear 3 in power. "Stacking" them wouldn't have been enough. He needed to harmonize DF + haki.

The last time Luffy tried gear stacking for a single attack in Thriller Bark, he ended up in a comatose state. He improved his G2 control though, so we might not know how much he can handle gear stacking now, but saying G4 has more drawbacks is completely baseless.

Besides Gear stacking's main advantage is to take advantage of g2's speed to land a devastating G3 level blow, maybe with additional G2 level increase effect, but in the long run, G4 seems like the bigger PU, especially when it grants you better defense, stronger attack, grants you ability to fly and with different modes(tankman for even greater defense, boundman for greater power and maneuvrability, Snakeman for greater speed).

Overall then, it makes much more sense that Luffy abandoned Gear Stacking for G4. G4 is much better

Indeed his personality didn't change much if not he got more wary due to his experience
He got more reckless, he is dumber in fights. In fact, Zoro should reprimand Luffy for his messing around in fights.

Especially the Doflamingo and Cracker fight. He waits to be half dead before pulling out Gear 4 against Doflamingo.

He never barraged Doflamingo like he did Kaido. Nor did he use Kong Organ Gun( Kong Gun Gattling) on Doflamingo at all.

Against Cracker, he never used King Kong Gun. That would end Cracker in one move. The damage it did in Dressrossa was not even a direct hit.

He has always been dumb. Remember vs Magellan? He almost killed himself :pepelit:

No he's the same. He didn't need Kong Organ against Doffy sonce Dofy is not a durability fighter with clones like Cracker or huge like Kaido

He was more reckless before TS

True but Luffy pretty much removed the drawbacks of G2/3, so logically the gear stacking drawbacks should be drastically reduced.

Boundman is a little stronger than G3 and a little faster than G2, but if gear stacking has drastically reduced drawbacks, it could serve as a discount version of Boundman that conserves his Haki.

I’m pretty sure that the only reason why Oda used G4 instead was because gear stacker wasn’t nearly as cool as introducing a new gear mode
