I just don’t get it.
Oh, boy... let me tell you a tale. The current ZKK is way different than it originally started. I remember when, how and why it started, how it changed and why it changed.

Originally, ZKK was about fighting against Kaido with Luffy till the end, and then Zoro landing the finishing blow to Kaido subsequently killing him, hence the ZKK. It all started after Kaido's introduction, specifically from this panel...

Back then the hype around Kaido and Wano arc was real, the WCI hadn't happened yet so the big wake up call of the post-timskip was yet to happen. Oh boy, there was so much speculation around Wano and Kaido, thousands of videos on YouTube speculating about Kaido's true power and Wano's greatness. In the midst of that all, people were wondering about how will Luffy defeat Kaido!? Kaido was introduced as "undefeated in 1v1" and people thought that the entire fight against Kaido will be a team effort, that many characters will fight against Kaido with Luffy, but Luffy will be the one to lend the finishing blow because he's the main character. But Zoro fans objected that, they said that Zoro will be the one to lend the finishing blow and kill Kaido. And that sparked the greatest shit show this community has ever seen... greater than Zoro vs Sanji or Mihawk vs Shanks.

At the beginning Zoro fans argued that Zoro must be the one to lend the finishing blow because Wano is a country of Samurais [swordsmen] and Zoro has to do something over the top great then ever before, and being the one to lend the finishing blow to the "strongest creature alive" was something worthy of the future "WSS." And then a theory came to fruition... this theory argued that Kaido is actually a Dragon who ate Oni DF and became human, and Zoro fans noticed it. You see, at the time Zoro fans desperately needed something substantial to back ZKK up, they were already looking everywhere, and this theory was everything they wished for. Zoro fans jumped into the lore "aspect" and the Ryuma parallel, arguing that Zoro will slay the Dragon above the flower capital just like Ryuma. And pretty soon this fan art appeared where Zoro is leading the fight against Kaido...

At the peak of this movement the most radical Zoro fans even argued that "Luffy will or should fight against Big Mom while Zoro fights Kaido alone," but I digress.

The ZKK movement peaked when Zoro fans realized that the gap–which was already big at the time–was huge between Yonko and YCs, which made Zoro fans even more defensive. Zoro fans had been arguing (they still are btw) for years that "Zoro is equal or stronger than Luffy," and the Wano arc could make or break their agenda. They realized that if Zoro doesn't kill Kiado (which was still about defeating Kaido) then it would almost be impossible to push their agenda, which was already a difficult undertaking in first place. So Zoro fans were ready to die on ZKK heal! They were defending ZKK with everything they've got in most aggresive, stupid and offensive way. But then the rooftop fight ended... after that every chapter made ZKK less and less viable, but Zoro fans bet everything on it, so at this point they don't care how Zoro kills Kaido, he has to kill Kaido in order for Zoro fans to save their face (which is already covered in shit). And that's when "Zoro lending the finishing blow" turned into just ZKK, and now that many pepole don't even remember when and why ZKK appeared, its original form was forgotten, some Zoro fans are now ok with Zoro killing already defeated Kaido cuz they bet their accounts unto it.

The real question is, why do some Luffy fans get super insecure at mention of ZKK? It doesn't even take anything away from Luffy; he wasn't going to kill Kaido anyway.

I think it's a positive for One Piece than anything for having a secondary character have that final blow on a big bad after metric fuckton of build-up.

It has happened across many other Shonens and is usually very appreciated by the fans. OP and Luffy fans are only ones who act like someone shot their grandmother because they pointed out 5 buildups to ZKK lol

Cause all they got out of this arc is holdem.

Before ZKK was even a thing some speculated Zoro would behead a dragon in Wano Ryuma style and well it's hard to not get into the theory the way Wano has progressed.
But besides all the hints and whatnot it would be fun to see the One Piece fandom go crazy as it happens:doffytroll:

Lmao the fake altruism.

"It's good for the story, doesn't hurt Luffy at all" wink wink. Meanwhile secretly writing a 100 page masturbatory thesis on Zoro the new main character.

Whaddya mean. On a personal level, I said it many times b4 that it isn't a big deal for me, but I just don't get the issue. It isn't even about powerlevel anymore.

Though you guys really do go so insecure over it. It's really not that insane in shonen, and is actually looked upon in good light for most but here.

Hell, even Fairy Tail did it with Natsu and Gray, and that took nothing away from anyone

Lmfao.
No.
Zoro slaying a dragon in wanos capital has been a thing since Thriller Bark.
All of your post is cope from a guy who was QUOTE laughing at zoro fans pre 1000 to crying about oda when zoro went to the roof.

"ZKK is a fantasy that precedes logic"

:luuh:

Everyone is different. I knew Zoro would have Haohshoku immediately, because it's made up of traits he's displayed from the very beginning of the series.

However, one of my earliest discussions here was arguing with @nik87 about whether or not Zoro would see Kaido. I was wrong, and I don't care because I needed to see enough to be sure. I was certain he'd see Kaido when he told Luffy he was going up. I was certain of ZKK with chapter 997 when he straight up told us he's gonna fuck up Kaido. And again I knew for certain already that he was a conqueror, so it was enough for me to believe it.

There are clues from years ago and so much shit like... we were all talking about the PH dragon before Toei threw it in our faces. But at this point I have to say that smart money puts it as the most likely outcome. It resolves too many plot threads

People are afraid of being wrong. They will hide if so and will shove it in everyone's face if they are right... but they won't be happy. They won't like Oda dancing around his own story and Oda wouldn't like it either.

It means almost half of the series, 400 chapters, was spent waiting for the same shit as ever. Either Luffy does the Gatling or the Big Rubber Duff to finish it. Wow.

Ignoring everything said in the arc, Kaido's intro says he could never be killed or held in prison. Now someone explicitly has the power to kill him but he'll be apprehended? The power doesn't lie with the protagonists, it lies in the jail system that couldn't even hold Luffy as a rookie. That or Kaido decides not to fly away from Onigashima, not to escape prison again, and never to come back to Wano or another country once the strong enemies are gone. Yes he wants a glorious death but you know what, fuck it. That punch really hurt and Luffy's got a cute smile. So Kaido is just Katakuri part 2.

Zoro's declared himself king of the underworld but fuck him, too. That Kozaburo flashback Zoro has about killing and Enma being the masterpiece means nothing. No one is actually gonna die so let's forget all this samurai stuff. They can't have their payback, where the Beast pirate wills are broken by the death of their leader just as they experienced. Kaido got punched so all that pain and suffering doesn't matter, time for the post arc party. Maybe Kaido is actually Katakuri 2.5 because he shows up and shares sake.

This arc so far has a lot in common with Thriller Bark. We found out Moria had his crew slaughtered and his will broken by Kaido. The same thing could very much happen to him. His crew beaten and him getting defeated and then killed

Have you been reading the same manga as the rest of us? Zoro wants to avenge Yasu and is enraged by what Kaido’s SMILE business has done to the people of Ebisu Town. Zoro and Luffy both want to create a world without Kaido where Tama doesn’t have to starve. Zoro has every reason to want to kill Kaido, even without Oda revealing that he has Shimotsuki lineage and would also be avenging Ushimaru.

Many, many posters have pointed out the narrative reasons for Zoro killing Kaido. Acting like they don’t exist is intellectually dishonest and agenda-driven nonsense.
yeah i want zkk to happen because its been heavily foreshadowed and set up. for like multiple irl years
