That's not really an issue to me vs The silhouette piece we play with oda every year.
If you're asking for kata level build Up. Idts except for main antagonist anyone would get it. Yamato wasn't even an antagonist.

With the Oden gag thing, I don't really think about it like a bad gag, it's part of who she is, like I think Sanji shouldn't obsses over women, but I don't think it is a bad gag, I think it is a bad decision on his part, as in Sanji's part, not the author's, although with Yamato her statement that she is Oden is different
I've always liked Yamato a lot more than others, because I do feel despite some of her flaws (some of the Oden Stuff) she is a well written character. I think a lot of people let the Oden aspect of her personality effect their view on her to much, and sometimes miss the good aspects of her character.
These are one of the most beautiful seconds of one piece

Yamato was a beast and I wish she would have stayed with the SHs. She would have made a great addition for her raw strength alone.

Backstory didn’t do anything for me when reading, but the anime made it way better. I only like her because she’s a badass fighter, female Kaido with a great overall design (especially her df design - one of the best transformations imo).
She’s pretty annoying with one of the worst dialogues, constantly bringing up Oden. If Oda can just take that away then she’d be a way better character. If she’s gonna be a SH later then I hope she just makes her a goofball but cut 95% of the Oden talk or something.

I mean fair enough, and its cool if it helped you with things that happened in your personal life, but Kaido abusing Yamato for reading Odens book doesnt make any sense to me. He acts like Oden is Obi wan and Hes anakin and Oden cut him in half and left him to burn in a volcano. All Oden did was cut him once before the fight gets ruined by a trick. Kaido kills the person who tricked him, but still agrees to Oden being executed afterwards. Why? He could just rematch him.
